Found a nice non-invasive way to increase the height of a ball tact switch.

Some folks werent getting proper clearance on their mods so that they could easily click their wattage tact switches. I found these Rivet Pyramid Studs. The 4mm ones work perfectly. :)

So with a slight mod clipping off the legs and drop of CA....problem solved. Extra height and a little more bling.

Frickin genius! Only one set of 50 of the ones you linked left, though.

Taking a risk and ordering these in silver, gold and antiqued brass. My first-ever mod build has antique brass fittings except for the up/down switches, this should complete the look!

If they work, we have a second buying option for these.

Also found these in gunmetal and these in copper.

Edit: I am ordering all of these, if they work, Gdeal just addressed one of the lingering issues with using these ball tact switches, they never matched any mod that had gold/brass/copper themes.

Is there a similar product to cover the firing button?

Gdeal's original quest was to figure out ways to get the tact ball up/down switches to protrude more, since SW is FUBARing the shell prints, causing these buttons to be too recessed for access.

He found the silver ones to extend the length a bit, and then I had my usual "Dr. Thackery Just Had An Idea Get Out Of The Way" moment and dug up similar parts in different materials/colors (gold, brass, gunmetal, copper).

AFAIK, the SW fire buttons print perfectly in every material and color. I have gold steel, polished nickel steel and various dyed plastic buttons, all needed almost no modding of the through-hole to fit perfectly.

Were you looking to add some rhinestones - I can find something, but it'll cost you testosterone, but you will be officially FABULOUS!

I think it would be more accurate to say, "SW was FUBARing". The updated design works around it and looks good so far. But I agree, if you want a metal button, the printed versions are pretty good. The dont have a bling version for Classwife, so I am working on adapting one for a Swarovski crystal.... ;)

I have a question.... so luckily I'm getting in on the Printed Mech Bottom Feeder early so I'll be following along, and will be buying shells from shapeways, and parts from a group buy so I assume I'll figure it out as it goes along, but it looks like I'm a day late to get in on the DNA30 printed bottom feeder here. I'm a little confused about this because I've been seeing all the usual suspects talking about and showing off their Gdeal DNA30 rounded boxes for months. So when I finally get up the gumption to break out my rarely used soldering iron, I'm stymied. Am I going to just have to wait for a few months until there is another "round" or am I just confuzzled and need pointed in the right direction?
