I have a question.... so luckily I'm getting in on the Printed Mech Bottom Feeder early so I'll be following along, and will be buying shells from shapeways, and parts from a group buy so I assume I'll figure it out as it goes along, but it looks like I'm a day late to get in on the DNA30 printed bottom feeder here. I'm a little confused about this because I've been seeing all the usual suspects talking about and showing off their Gdeal DNA30 rounded boxes for months. So when I finally get up the gumption to break out my rarely used soldering iron, I'm stymied. Am I going to just have to wait for a few months until there is another "round" or am I just confuzzled and need pointed in the right direction?

check the ss in my co-op and click on the tab 'cost worksheet' at the bottom of the page - all the links to the items needed are there. unfortunately, some need to be bought in bulk and others get cheaper in quantities. you might be able to find some locally or have them already in your tool box. you also might place a want ad in the classifieds.
the biggest expense for an individual buyer was shipping. all those vendors, no matter how small the order, have about a $7.00 minimum for shipping. with so many different sources that made the parts cost-prohibitive for many.

A big yes to this, the beta group was small, we did a group buy on the parts, and the total was at least double the coop for the parts

Now you're talking, you get crystal on this, I could even get my wife to carry it (Carry I said, not vape)

There are literally hundreds of other types of switches on mouser we could throw in that might take to the crystal/Swarovski bits I see on Etsy and elsewhere with little to no modding work. I'll try to get some ideas this week on that.

If you factor in spares of some parts, I can tell you even 4-5 people getting together offline to organize something will lead to tremendous cost savings. Just make sure you pick up a couple of screws from any of these co-ops, as those would not be freely available - although I am using modded Amazon vented screws in a couple of mine, and they seem to work pretty well, just need a tad more force on the squonk.

That screw has been the problem part since the beginning, it seems, and it would be nice if there was a more readily available solution. I'm curious if TurboCad's latest modification of the FD bottom feed flanged needle could be used in the Classic 510 Insert. I don't think a Reo pin could be used and maintain adjustability, but did anyone give it a try? They might be difficult to get by themselves, at any rate.

Also, if someone were just to order, say, 10 sets of all the other parts so as to have some on hand if others might be interested, would it be a violation of ECF rules to mention the fact and offer a set at cost?

Kentastic, It turns out that I may have to order a bunch of parts for a second mod. I placed an order on SW for the parts for 2 mods but my order in Tib's buy was only for 1 set. Planning isn't one of my strong suits, I guess. I don't have to order all the parts since I have alot of the parts already, i.e., fuses, FD classic, battery contacts, etc. I do have to order stuff from mcmasters, mouser, hobbyking, & Kjmagnetics. Just those 4 total about $42 without shipping. FWIW

I paid for some custom SS samples from China based on a collaboration with G doing the CAD work (they are more like a Reo pin since that style of hook up is my preference) that should be here soon. If they pan out I will be able to order a MOQ of 500 at a reasonable cost per unit.

and ... the DNA under watt flashing stops at about 26W
I have to chuckle at the button touch ... it doesn't hit harder when you press harder!

Thanks a bunch Gdeal for such a fun little puzzle to put together!
