Yup, just found out last night from jonniemac, he is closing up his shapeways shop because of their BS. That sux as it is always nice to have so many great designers to choose between.

And thanks so much for putting those designs on the new site. Working 12.5hr nights right now, but plan on grabbing these this weekend. Can't wait to get one of these with a dna40 and a mech. Thanks a lot for ruining most of my other equipment. ..lol. At least some folks will be getting a good deal soon on all the mods I gotta sell now...haha.

With $6.50 3-day shipping from Cheese-Eating Surrender Monkey Land, it will be easy to say buh-bye to Shapeways.

Take off, you hoser..aye?

Surrender? When did they get their own military such that it could surrender? Watch Flashpoint some time. Always a great laugh. Even their villains are pussies. Street thug with a French accent just makes me cackle.

Well, I'm between a rock and a hard place. Got my 3.1 from Shapeways, can't use it, and now their gone apparently as I have yet to get confirmation my email was even opened (cool outlook tool :) ) I also see many have "jumped ship" on shapeways due to problems. Hope they aren't moving to a bigger space now, only to find it's not needed....

Why can't you use it? Perhaps we can guide you through making ti workable. I'd jump on video Skype over the weekend if that'll help.

I thought about it, I could probably heat the parts or area that's bad and bend it, glue those areas broken and make it work (ignoring looks), but when I look at doing that on top of the other clean up needed to make then fit together I had a realization.... I paid for parts that weren't done correctly. Much easier to place an order somewhere else, and request a refund or dispute the charges as "not as ordered". I don't mind doing the work, and really.... I'm not a D***. But it irritated me to think a company sent me there, much less someone saw these as they bagged them TWICE and they were still shipped as is. Guess as someone who builds custom trucks for a living I know what's expected of me and how I work to deliver a quality product, why would I accept anything less from a company I entrusted to do the same? Mistakes happen, and there's no getting around that, but it's how we deal with them when they happen that show who we are.

Edit: And refund or dispute as in, IF I don't hear anything back soon..... or this isn't corrected quickly. Kinda feel I got delayed so often with this so far, then had it delivered as bad..... patency with them is running thin.

David, while you are waiting for Shapeways to respond, (should be within 24hr, (but YMMV) you can try to fix/assemble the parts. They will not ask for it back. Just make sure you got good pictures of the issue

So....CA glue does wonders. I had to replace a DNA board, that I fried in a 3.1. After I got done prying it apart, (This was before I started getting smarter at where I was placing the CA glue) I had a couple of pieces that broke off, bent or destroyed. After swapping out the DNA, I just reassembled the fixed up internal and it was fine. Bent pieces got straighten out, broken piece either were glued back in place and I even added some epoxy (then sanded) a small piece that I misplaced. Its ugly, but it worked. I gifted it to a friend and they had no clue. lol. But its not like he was going to know the difference and he probably will never inspect the re-aassembled part.

Anyway just a suggestion, hopefully Shapeway's does the right thing. It doesnt get them off the hook, they still suck, you should be ......, but at least you are not complete out on the part. They could have mixed up a part and sent you something completely not salvageable. Just a couple of thoughts....

Regarding the removal of the DNA30 fire button...

If I understand, we are to remove the fire button, or at least remove the top of it. In my dry fit, the button does not seem to be depressed, but I can see that with a little deviation, it might get depressed.

I'd like to keep it together so as to have a complete board afterwards if I, for instance, upgrade to a DNA40.

Can the button be reassembled if the top is taken off, or is it reasonable to resolder it to the board?

Just guessing, it looks like a +/- 1/8" hole could be drilled on the bottle holder portion of the frame that would keep the button from depressing, but I'm unsure of the thickness of that part. Has someone tried this?

Thoughts appreciated...

Are there mods that actually use the stock firing button? I suppose there must be a few, otherwise Evolv would have done away with it. In any case, I can't imagine someone putting a used DNA30 in a mod that used the stock firing button. When I upgrade to a 40, I will do so in a fresh set of internals and the existing DNA30 internals will become a backup/spare; able to be swapped in in a minute or two.

Ha... I paid twelve dollars shipping and on top of that a five dollar handling fee from a vendor that had a key part for the mechanical mod during the beta test. At the time, they were the only ones that had the part in stock...so I paid their ransom.

Speaking of...sure hope the mech parts coop is soon. Dying to try one but with 40 buck mins for a 2 cent part....not even I can justify that.

Just placed an order with Sculpteo for a DNA and a Peko. Looks like they're offering a 10% email coupon if anyone wants one. Not sure how many tries it's good for, but if you want it shoot me a PM with your email and I'll put it in for you;.

Did you get it from just signing up for an account?
