Ok I've been lurking in this thread because of the 3D printing. But now I have to ask:

What is so great about bottom feeding compared to a dripper like the magma? Just less dripping?

Not less dripping, but no dripping at all is what makes it better. You get all the benefits of running a dripper without any of the hassle of constantly needing to drip.

Any time you are unsure if your wick is wet enough you just give the bottle a squeeze. It fully saturates your wick then sucks the excess back into the bottle. Also dripping and driving is no longer a problem since all you have to do is give the bottle a squeeze.

It combines the benefits of a dripper(flavor, vapor, etc, etc) with the benefits of having a tank (juice capacity). Only difference is you are feeding the liquid yourself when you need it.

Once you have tried a bottom feeder it makes it really hard to go back to anything else, it really is that good.

You seal your internals to? I was going to use mine as is should I Finnish them with something?
What are you using and why do you feel the need to Finnish the internals?

Speaking of 3's..all sealed up with Krylon, sized and fitted; ready for wiring.....

Basically, I use two light coats of Krylon (#1311). Its very thin, doesnt add any thickness and seals pores. It also helps keep the internals a bit cleaner from scuffs, etc.. Just string them up and spray them all at once. 15-20 minutes and you are done...easy as pie.

Do you coat them after you put them together or with them all as separate pieces?

Gdeal, do you happen to have the buttons, rings & top cap separate on sculpteo? My order for those extra parts just got canceled on shapeways in the guise of customer service. I'm really hoping that they don't randomly cancel the top internals that I ordered.

What grit sandpaper should i be sanding at?

This is the sanding sponge I've mostly been using...

It feels to be around 300 grit when new and is now worked down to around 220. It's a little easier to work with than paper on a sanding block since it conforms to the curves a bit when you apply pressure.

I guess this should properly be over in the Peko forum, but here is a white polished as received from Sculpteo on the left and almost-done after sanding on the right. I've been sanding with the ring on so as not to loosen the fit where it overlaps the shell and cap, which makes the process slower. The sides of the cap I've used an Xacto file on for initial smoothing. Ring I haven't touched yet.

Would be awesome, please keep us updated. Printing at home would reduce the price to about $5 for the printed parts. Even if there is more work sanding it would be nice.

I'm thinking of putting together parts kits for the DNA version myself. Since I started ordering parts and realized that many of them have to be bought in qtys much higher than required. I figured that must detour a lot of people from going forward with building this mod.

You have to buy some things in big quantity but the cost , because they ate small parts, is pretty low, like the washers for example, you have to buy 100, but it's only a few bucks. . It's definitely worth the money, the device itself it seeet!

Cocky me, when I first saw it I thought it would be a piece of cake, after all I have built a bunch of Mods! I have to admit, this one was a wee bit more challenging than I expected. Soldering that Alps switch, lots of tight work, etc.

Hits good, and maybe this is normal, but I fear I may have done the tubing wrong, I followed the photo walk-thru gdeal did, or tried to anyway. My problem is that it seems to be real slow filling and sucking the excess back. I even took the atty off (to eliminate the Cyclone) and just squeezed some up into the 510, a very slow ooze at best, and I was pressing the hell out of the bottle.

Any suggestions?

The same thing happened to me. If your screw/pin is drilled out to a reasonable size, then I bet it is the bottle cap / nipple needs drilling out more. My screw was already almost 2mm, and I drilled my bottle cap and nipple the size from the tutorial. So I stepped up the drill size for the bottle cap and nipple which solved my problem.
