I have been building my PT 2 coils for a while now and I'm considering trying cotton instead. I'm not sure if I want to go micro coil or just a standard wrap and adding a piece of cotton over the top of the coil to fill the gap.
Is there anyone who is using a similar set up that can shed some light on this?
Next would be how often are you replacing the cotton, I'm an all day vapor?

Cotton is much better. I've rebuilt a lot of the Kanger dual coils with cotton and I've found that putting cotton on top of the coil chokes the juice flow. However, if there's too much open space it will flood. I know the chamber is bigger on the dual coils so I can't tell you what diameter coil you would want to use.

It will really depend on how often you get dry hits in terms of changing out the cotton. If the cotton stays well-wicked it could last you a week or two.. maybe longer.

Well,I alternate 2 Mini Protanks on top of a eVic.I spin 6 wraps of 32 gauge kanthal wire around a 1.8mm nail for ~2.2 ohms.I thread it with cotton from a ball of cotton yarn purchased at Walmart. with a little piece on top for the flavour wick.I change the wicks after about 3 tankfulls of clear tobacco 50/50 juices.I do have some really dark sweet ry4 juice that'll gum things up really quick and when using this juice I've gotta swap out the wick after every refill.

For PT2/Evod coils I use a 1.4 mm Micro screwdriver to wrap a 30 gauge 7 wrap micro coil for 1.6 Ohms. I take a wisp of cotton from a sterile ball and roll it tight between my fingers. It should thread easily through the coil, filling it but not too tight. After I clip each side I take a toothpick and fluff the cotton sticking out so there are little happy clouds on each side filling the gaps. I've been wicking this way for months and haven't had a single gurgle, flood or dry hit. I don't rewick when the flavor and vapor drop I usually just completely rebuild.

I use a 1.4 mm (about a 1/16 drill bit) for PT2 coils and a 2 mm single (5/64 drill bit) for Aerotank Duals. I have a blog post on how I rebuild a dual coil into a single that might give you some tips. Click on the "2" next to blog entries under my avatar.
