I think mainly because if it is an automatic battery it might accidentally activate and burn up the atty/cart/battery... I've read posts here where folks have said they get hot enough to burn them through their clothing when they activate without them wanting to... might be a little harder for a manual batt to do that, but still possible if somehow the button got pushed down somehow.

There's defiantly some stupid questions ie "what kind of hammer do i use for this screw?", But this one isn't one of them

I can't believe this must be answered yet again, dog gone newbs....

Everyone knows that the proper hammer for screws is a Slotted Impact ballpein with Phillips Robertson fork, and a torx hex squared handle.

sheesh.....

Antiquarian,

I think some of this is still legacy worries. There is quite a fear of batteries shorting out and exploding. Thus all the holes in PV's and warnings to disconnect.

I suspect many of these fears have been addressed (like the PV activated with a mic - clap on clap off :D), but certainly better safe than sorry.

...But I gotta ask anyway.
Does anyone know why the e-cigs are always stored dismantled? Is there a reason to keep the battry separate from the atomizer when not in use? I'd prefer they stay attached for quick access, but the cases don't allow for that.

I'm not positive, but I believe they say to seperate the atty from the battery so it doesn't drain the batt. But I never take mine apart unless I have to blow out the atty or change batteries. Instead I bought a different cast that allows me to carry my e-cigs fully assembled. I personally use an eyeglass case to keep the buttons on my manual 510's from getting pushed. Just look around for a better case. Lol

This wouldn't surprise me. I was walking around with a 9-volt battery in my jeans pocket with some change. When it started to feel like a wasp stinging me through my clothes I realized it was the battery....a coin in my pocket had snugged up against the two terminals at the same time and I actually burned my hand ripping it out of my pocket while cussing madly. Not a happy feeling. I was lucky it didn't explode.
