Probably switching to MTL from DTL style.

New here from Texas, not really new to vaping but been realizing I might have just been doing it the way I don't prefer the whole time. Been using box mods for a while like the smok gpriv and my latest one, the vaporesso polar just .... the bed. Went and picked up just a little temp pod one while I browse around for a new one and why is it so much more satisfying? Been smoking these big DTL style ones for a while and it seems like the couple times I've had to get one of these dumpy little temp ones they're oddly more satisfying. TL;DR version at the end.

Things I've realized..
1. I prefer a tight draw that simulates as close to the feel of a cigarette as possible.

2. I find huge clouds obnoxious both in that they give me coughing fits and when I want to hang with people or watch a movie/show I want to take a drag and not look like i just set the house on fire.

3. I've never ONCE used the million tweaks and features on those digital screens, aside from changing the voltage and that's just I've tried different coils ironically trying to get the low-cloud cigarette like feel and struggling.

4. I still have plenty of bottles of liquid here and I would greatly prefer something with easy refill options as I can mix flavors and easily pick my nicotine levels, etc.

5. Portability/form factor is a lesser factor to me. Having a smaller pen form factor is a bonus, but 95% of the time I vape is at home or in a relaxed setting where i don't have to carry it in my pocket. I absolutely don't care if its designed to look like a real cigarette with light up tip gimmicks or whatnot, as long as it hits good.

6. Battery life isn't a huge issue for me again for the same reason above, vast majority of time when I'm vaping is when i have easy access to a charger/power outlet.

So yeah, tl;dr looking for a high quality product of something with a tight cigarette-like draw, low cloud production, no LED with a billion settings menus, and refillable.

and welcome to why vaping is a personal experience :)
what works for one person doesn't always work for another

can't much help with the no led and settings :)
I love my aegis legend, but then again I need dual battery mods because I'll kill a single battery in a heartbeat....

if pods work for you then go for it....
I think @hittman and @FranC would be able to offer you some good recommendations on pod mods and mtl devices

I don't know if it was this case for you but...
I have notice that many vape shops when u go to buy a vape for the first time instead of ask or suggest to start with mtl they usually try sell you a direct lung vape...

In my opinion that's wrong cause first for a new vaper it's better to go for a low wattage vape device cause it's immitating the cig experience and I guess most cases are people that want to quit smoking
And also it's cause a direct lung has felt overkill to some and maybe think vaping is not for them...I have see people think that and its a shame...

Maybe those vape store sellers want to make them vape more to sell juices or just cause they are into vaping direct lung they think it's best and don't even realize that vaping it's a way to quit smoking...

And ok I may like vaping and it's more than that to me now, but we should never forget that's what it is all about and we must promote it that way to make more people vape and make it more mainstream...
Cause I feel like I should see more people vaping instead of smoking..

Anyway I am glad u find what u like most even if it took time :) enjoy

to be honest i've bought most of my stuff online, the fact that you can't test the merchandise these days kinda makes me wonder why local shops exist at all for pricey items like that. but the very first one I had was a mid level pen style and i moved to box mods quickly after that, cause when it comes to MOST things in life, you get what you pay for and they're usually more expensive. But if I'm paying extra for power or features I don't want, that seems pointless to me.

Btw I'm not sold on 'pods' or whatever. I'm just saying this one I got recently and enjoyed was a pod-based little stick.

Yeah I have heard what some pods even pen style ones are very good..
I never used cause I don't like the form factor...but whatever works is good for u

I think your case is just that u got into dl and kinda forgot the mtl style...
The only thing I don't like in dl is as u said the clouds... :p

I started vaping MTL then switched to DTL because everyone told me I should. I did DTL for a year or so and just wasn't getting the same satisfaction so I made the switch back to MTL and I am now getting the satisfaction from it again.

You don't have to use a pen device or pod system for MTL. I have two squonk devices with MTL RDA's on them and I set the wattage and leave it alone.

Could it be the pod you have contains nic salt instead of freebase nic?

I haven't vaped MTL since the early days but I've recently heard good things about the Evolve Reflex. It's mostly automatic activated by your draw and how strong you draw.

Just a suggestion. Some folks really like them. :)
