Hi folks,

I used to smoke analogs 10+ years ago, and smoked from age 15 to 22ish. Then I quit.
Recently however I've picked up vaping and I LOVE IT. I'm only getting the lowest nicotine juice possible but it's an wonderful alternative to taking prescription drugs to combat mild anxiety issues I have.

It really makes me "slow down" and relax. I know it sounds goofy, but it does work, at least for me. I find myself relaxing and taking my time walking the dog outside etc, because I can just puff and enjoy away and my favorite of all time is back, that morning puff with coffee and that after dinner puff.... ahhh good times.

Some of my best memories are from smoking and I'm glad to have it back in a SAFE form.

So that's why I'm here!

Don't worry about vaping nicotine... nicotine has shown to give a positive mental effect on people with ADD and all sorts of good things. In healthy amounts, any stimulant or relaxer can improve a person's daily life until they find themselves in a life situation that has less stress involved. Nicotine is certainly healthier than taking anti-depressants imo, I can personally attest to that! My motto in life though, is always a that a stress-free life can lead to a no-need life! If you do have some stress, it can always be a good step to sit and think about what small steps and changes you can make in your life that would automatically give you that peace of mind at the end of the day ;).

Don't be afraid to try 0mg juices though. The flavor of a vape can be a magical thing that provides entertainment and discovery all in itself. Trying out new juices just for the flavor can be as fun and stimulating as the nicotine! Switching back and forth (say, if you have a couple models of the device you like, where you can keep a couple different vapes on you at all times) between nicotine and non-nic juices can really help maintain your nicotine consumption at a healthy level as well.

Just like sugar or caffiene or anything else out there, nicotine in itself is probably not particularly a healthy substance, but with a healthy vaping mindset, I say that all effects of vaping can be enjoyed without any negatives in the long run, for most people. Vaping is certainly opinioned to be totally safer and healthier than smoking, and it's also a much safer legal alternative to certain other illegal mental-stimulant-relaxer alternatives that a majority of people realistically do end up trying sometime in life.

Happy vaping! It's always great to hear new vapers enjoying the hobby!

Thanks!!! And you are 100% correct. I didn't even consider 0mg juices. The girl at the shop set me up with 6mg and I just rolled with it. So far so good! Maybe I'll try a 0mg next time. I'm totally in LOVE with their juices and I've only tried 3. (lol.) I tried a strawberry that I can take it or leave it... maybe too fruity? But then I tried Chai Latte and fell in love (that's my favorite drinK!) Today after a total noob accident (accidentally took off the wrong part of the tank without the base ...OOPS JUICE EVERYWHERE) I had to go back to the store to get more and picked up Dirty Horchata... o...m...g. I don't think I even want to try another juice. I tried buying a gallon of it, but unfortunately they don't sell that size. (kidding.)

Can you fall in love with a flavor? I think you can.

Plus I upgraded from this tank:

to the Aspire :

And I swear to goodness it was like moving up from a ford focus into a Lexus or something. The dual core Aspire just makes clouds of vapor and the flavor is INTENSE. It's like sucking on a cinnamon lolly pop or something. OUTSTANDING.

Sorry, can you tell I"m a bit excited?

Hi!

I can tell you likes the pretties. You need to go visit here for a couple five hours => http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/general-e-smoking-discussion/323314-show-us-your-girly-pretty-decorated-pink.html There will be pictures. Lot's of pictures...

You know, you aren't the only person here who came to vaping after a long quit smoking phase. It worked, didn't it? Kept you from going back to smoking while fulfilling some of the things you missed. I know a lot of ex-smokers who quit the hard way - cold turkey even. I don't push it, but I let every one of them know that if they ever felt like they "wanted" to relapse into smoking, at least now they have a much better option.

You did the right thing. Congrats!

Glad you're enjoying vaping!

Do try a few 0mg juices though. If it's more the juice that you're enjoying then the nicotine there's no point in vaping 6mg. I know some of the other posters mentioned the benefits of nicotine, but please do keep in mind how addictive nicotine can get.

Best wishes on your vaping journey!

Hello. I'm glad you tried vaping instead of going back to smoking.

Here's another thing you can do... You can mix two levels of liquid to get something in between. So, most places offer 6 mg/ml as their lowest concentration with nicotine, and they usually also offer 0 mg/ml. If you get equal amounts of 6 and of 0 and mix them together, you will have 3 mg/ml. It might be worth exploring how low you can take your nicotine and still get the benefits to your anxiety.

Hello! I love your set-up it's so pretty! I think you made a very wise choice and I'm glad you had a place to go to and talk to someone that could help you. I like the idea of mixing 0mg of nicotine juice with the 6mg of nic juice to get a 3mg nic juice. With you just starting out it should be plenty. Congrats to you for not picking up the cigs! Happy Vaping! :vapor:

I'm not that different... I smoked cigarettes in college (roll-your-own or inject-your-own), then smoked cigars and pipes, several years of snuff... then quit for several years. Quitting snuff was not easy for me, but getting a new hobby and using nicotine patches and hard candy eased through it.

I've been stressed and miserable a bit in the past 3 years (fibromyalgia and other things), and looking to recapture some magic (really there's not much I can do to "escape" at the moment, probably going to go back to meditating again soon though), so took up vaping a little over 2 weeks ago. I'm doing OK though I seem to have mild-to-moderate PG intolerance. Sometimes vaping certain things flares up my fibro but I'm not sure its due to nicotine.

I vape around 12-16mg, and so far only tobacco flavors (I like the Dunhill cloned juice, though the RY3 I started with was OK too, and right now I'm vaping Desert Ship). I have an eGo CE4 clone and a basic Blu setup. I'll get a puff or two every hour or so on the Blu, or I take a few drags on the eGo. In the future I may try a 6mg juice. I do vape 0mg juices sometimes, especially at night. I think I might try that soon with a non-tobacco flavor.

Nicotine seems to bug my body less than caffeine. I've become caffeine intolerant since getting fibromyalgia, a decaf drinker. In the morning I like to get some decaf coffee and vape.

My partner is a long term nicotine lozenge user, with a lot of physical dependence on nicotine. I've sometimes wondered if she shouldn't just be vaping instead, it might be cheaper (I'm not sure of the economics of it).

No I too had quit smoking for about 5 years. I got bad news from my docs saying I had breast cancer AGAIN and that it had moved to my brain. So I wanted a smoke so freakin BAD!!! i started with 0nic then I am at 4mg that a local shop makes for me fresh. So it does calm my nerves yet I am not smoking cancer stix. Only wish I have is that I can find a good vape for my hubby who smokes a pack a day

I too have anxiety and have always though smoking helped that after reading many studies found that it is a great way to combat the anxiety. I recently switched from analogs to vapimg and have not looked back. Now I feel like I can self medicate and not fill my body with all the nasty chemicals of a true smoke.

you can make your own juice and its pretty cheap, One Stop DIY shop can provide a pretty good starter kit. There are other places online to get all that stuff, too. Some folks have told me that WizardLabs nic base has a bit of flavoring that they noticed, while the MyFreedomSmokes.com's nic base is rather flavorless. I guess it all depends on your tastes, too.

Edit: if you are interested in mixing juice, DO read up on how to be safe with making it - typically folks start with a 48mg nic base when they are first starting out, you can get 100mg nic, but its basically poisonous stuff so you have to be super careful (gloves, long sleeves, eye protection) about using it. Even a strong whiff of the 100mg bottle can give you a large dose of nic, it might make someone quite ill - a quick overdose of nic - from breathing it.

There are extensive posts in here about DIY juice, recipes and all that good stuff. Also you will need a calculator that can aid you in measuring exact portions of everything in a juice mix:

He needs to try some juices and he should find one he likes, it all depends on what flavor he enjoys - there are basically thousands of flavors/mixes of juice. I tried some 24mg nic juice (ordered that with my basic starter kit), and then had some 18mg stuff arrive the next day...then went to 12mg juice in the following week. I've been cutting back on the nic level quite fast, next up is some 6mg stuff that has yet to arrive..

Also note that if you use a drip atomizer you wont use as high a level of nic, it just hits so much harder than a tank would. Often folks who drip are using 6mg nic...
