Hi Im new here to the forums, fairly new to vaping. I just started a couple months ago trying to learn online rather then from people in stores because they weren't any help just into gettting me to buy new stuff guaranteeing it would give me what I was looking for. I started with an Ego-S. Then I moved to a k100 about a month ago really loved it so I felt like I found my "sweet spot". I recently changed my e-liquid to vaperlicious which im absolutely in love with! But lately I've been having a problem with my cartomizers. I dont know what cartos I've been getting because I got two from our local vape shop which worked out just fine. I bought a 5 pack of 510 Boge from hoosier vapes and I dont know what happened! I primed all my cartos the same with the "condom method". Same e-liquid. I thought maybe I just got unlucky and got a bad batch which I thought was highly unlikely but anyways, I got a new box today tried them out and same thing happened... I primed it tasted fine first hit then after about the 3rd was a completely burnt taste. It does that no matter what. I've tried it with my ego battery same thing, and a fully charged 18650. I've tried cleaning the center hole with a paper clip even though I can clearly see through it, tried boiling them, tried everything I can think of. Am I doing something wrong or am i getting the wrong cartos? Im at my wits end wasting e liquid and buying more and more cartos. Im set on cartos because I love the flavor they produce, dont care much for vapor more on flavor so im not looking to change to anything else anytime soon. Please help!

Just as a standalone. Im looking to get a tank for my cartos soon wasnt sure if there was a difference with or without a tank?
I use the smoktech pyrex DCT for my "aggressive" juices that break down plastics. All that happens is you punch 1 or 2 holes (or buy pre-punched cartos) and they sit in a tank full of liquid so its constantly feeding.
I can't really think of what would be causing your cartos to get a burnt taste. How much liquid would you say you're putting in when you use the condom method?

Thats what I thought maybe I need to get it to feed more... I put enough just to where it bubbles through the center and saturates then just let whatever excess fall through the center hole, then blow through as well to get any excess out. Generally thats about 8-10 drops for me. But is it possible for me to just vape all that liquid within three hits or so? Thats the only part that I thought was weird... I never had to fill my other cartos that often until now.
It's fine to use cartos solo, it's just difficult to know exactly when they need refilled before you end up burning them, and at that point they are ruined.
Using cartos in a tank allows you to know exactly when to refill the tank because you can see the juice. Each time you take a drag, juice is sucked from the tank into the carto to replenish what you vape. It's said to prolong the life of the carto, too, as the carto never dries out in a tank.
You didn't mention what ohm cartomizer you are using. If you're using a LR (low resistance) carto, it may be too warm to your liking and taste like its burnt. Try something in the standard resistance 2.0 - 2.5 ohm range on your mechanical mod.
I never had much luck with the condom method of filling a carto. I suggest this one which I've had a lot of success with. The "drip & flip" method:

2 ohms should be fine with a fresh 18650, thats only 4.2v I believe. Have you tried using the cartos on any other device?
Sounds like not enough juice. Condom method requires the larger condom to be a bit over half full when you start to press it down. You have to press in increments. Here's a good video.
Totally agree on that! I think I might go out and grab a tank tomorrow then, hope it fixes the problem... Any recommendations?
You will press the carto into the condom in steps. You press it into the condom (thread side first) until it peeks out the hole in the padding (you have to remove the mouthpiece to see this clearly of course). Let it sit until that is absorbed and then push it down onto the condom some more, until the juice peeks out. Keep doing this until juice is all absorbed. Takes about 5 minutes. Then remove condom and blow out both ends and you are good to go.
Also note that you only have to do this the first time you fill an empty carto. When your vapor production goes down or starts tasting burnt, add about 10-15 drops to the padding from the mouthpiece side, along the wall to avoid getting juice in the hole.

I seem to remember that when I used carto's it took right at 20 drops to completely fill them. Try filling one by dripping into it from the bottle. When it gets saturated, sling the juice down in it,like slinging a thermometer. Keep doing that until you see it start to puddle. I think what you are doing is only wetting about the top 1/4 of it.
To properly prime a standard carto takes around 20 drops, an xl carto takes 30 drops or so.
That's why I stopped using Boge and went to Smok Tech, never had that problem after, now I'm using IkenVapes Platinum.
