Problem with constant throat clearing?

I haven't been on the forums for a while, but I've noticed a problem that might be related to my vaping. I constantly feel like I need to clear my throat. I've been vaping constantly for the past 4 months, no analogs, and my breathing is much better without the smoke. However, for the past couple months, I have been trying to clear my throat, like something is in the back of it, that won't come out. Its hard to describe the feeling, and I don't even notice I'm doing it unless someone points it out (usually my roommate, who gets ....../ annoyed about it). Anyway, anyone else experience this? Is it a common problem/ is there a solution? This never happened before I started using my ecigs, so I'm confident its related.

As far as what I'm using, its a silver bullet, 510 attys, and I've stepped down to super low-nicotine, say 4mg-2mg, usually nobacco RY4 from V4L. Any ideas on how to fix, or if its indicative of some kind of health concern?

Are you using PG or VG? VG can produce excess phlegm, and PG can be drying. Either one of those things can make you want to clear your throat. If it's PG, try drinking more water. If VG, try using mixes with less or no VG.

I haven't had much problems with my VG, but I do notice I need to stay well-hydrated when I'm using my PG juice or it makes my throat a bit raspy.

Same thing happens to me, especially when I use higher VG concentrations.
I don't mind it much, since it seems better than hacking up a lung.

But yeah, I think that is just your lungs working the way they are supposed to.
The cilia has started to function again, and that seems like a good thing.

I'm not sure what concentration the of PG/ glycerin the Nobacco juice form V4L is, but its happened with all the juices I've used... all in various concentrations. The thing is, it doesn't feel like its in my lungs; there isn't any coughing involved. Its just in the very back of my throat, almost in my esophagous, like theres an oil slick coating back there. Perhaps more water is the key, although that doesn't seem to be it... it doesn't feel like its dry back there. At least it isn't a unique problem.

That "oil slick" feeling sounds like VG. Try going with 100% PG liquid only.

I only smoked somewhere between 3 and 10 cigarettes per day.
But I did that for over 25 years.

I don't think I ever killed all my cilia, like heavy smokers have done.
So I used to wake up every morning hacking up brown phlegm full of nasty crap.

I would spit out at least 3 or 4 good sized brown chunks every morning.
I take this as a sign that my cilia were still working quite well.

When I first started vaping, I started with 100% PG juices.
I never had this problem with congestion/phlegm in the back of my throat at that point.

But I wanted more vapor, so I switched to a mix of VG and PG after a few months.
And I started getting this feeling in the back of my throat.

I never started hacking up a lung ever again, but I did start spitting out crud each morning again.
But only just a very small bit, maybe 1 or 2 small phlegm balls.
And it was clear, not brown chunks.

Sorry to be so graphic, but I think it's important to be clear.
:)

Thats the thing, though... if 100% PG has lower vapor, but thats what I need to clear up my throat irritation, I guess I'll just have to deal with it because the vapor production of this stuff is awesome, and thats what I need out of a juice. I'll try gargling though, and drinking more water to kinda soothe it, perhaps that'll help.

Yeah, more water, but also: Try to cough a couple of times instead of constantly clearing your throat. It does get pretty annoying, I went through a similar phase. Mine passed after a few weeks, so maybe yours will, too. I still get it occasionally for a day or two, but now it's pretty rare.

It's hard to make yourself drink more water, but what works for me is to keep a 32 oz. styrofoam cup (lid and straw) full of ice and good-tasting bottled water around me as much as possible. Sometimes I'll mix water with some fruit juice, or drink Gatorade. I will sip on it all day if it's there, and I can actually go through 3 or 4 of them some days.

Vaping @ 100%VG right now and having the same issue. I've been doing what quasimod recommends above. For water I would suggest firstly buying the largest sized 'Smartwater' from any gas station and then just refilling it with filtered water afterwards. I generally use Crystal Light or Propel drink mixes to make it extra yummy and flavorful and it helps a lot; you want to be extra hydrated plus it assists with moving that phlegm along.

One more note of advice...drink at least one extra glass of water before bed. That dehydrated hacking in the morning is the worst and it ends up passing much easier if you are 'liquidated'. :p

Yeah I get it too. I know I need to drink more water, and that'll probably help. Funny thing is though. I smoked 2 PAD for 26 years, and after quitting never really hacked much. I had a pretty bad smokers cough but it was gone is a few days. I was fine for 5 weeks or so, and now that last week or so I have what you describe. I'm not too concerned though, it's probably just mucus, I could probably and may vape less VG and drink more water.

My body tells me i'm doing great though, took my little one to a place last weekend where I was up and down 3 flights of steps 20 times or so and never got winded. I used to get winded taking a shower. So yeah, I should drink more water, vape less VG, but baby steps for me. One step at a time. Start substituting one soda with one more glass of water a day.

Last time I quit smoking, I also gave up everything except my coffee for water, changed my diet, and that didn't go well. I smoked again. I don't need any added pressure just yet. I'll get there though;)

Hmmm... I had this problem when I was smoking and it was something I was hoping to get rid of with vaping, and have gotten rid of. It was hideous, I also had no idea that I was doing it until my boyfriend would point it out constantly (everytime I did it which was like all the time). Then it was embarrassing. It's gone away since I started vaping though, but yeah, that's a terrible feeling. Good luck with that. When I was smoking there was nothing but quitting that made it go away. Hopefully that's not the case with your vaping....
