Problem with EGO C4 AKA STARDUST

Hello, I am new to this forum. I just received an EGO C4 "STARDUST" CLEAROMIZER in the mail the other day along with some Makana e-liquid from Johnson Creek. The taste is wonderful, and the vapor production with such little drags, is amazing. However, sometimes when I press the button, the coils do not heat up - or make a popping noise at all. I have to unscrew the battery from the graduate, clean the battery port, as well as the part where the battery screws into the clearomizer with a q-tip. And after that, my e-cig works just fine. However, a couple of uses...and I am back to the same spot again. I've cleaned the product once already, rinsing with water, and dry burning as instructed...until the coil heats red, releasing gunk and other debris off of the wick and coil. How can I remedy this problem? Thanks in advance!

Hi Harrison, welcome to the forum.

Unfortunately it sounds like you have discovered the biggest flaw with the CEx type of clearos - and that is an inconsistent vape.
You're doing all the right things by the sound of it. The only thing I can suggest is try to pull the bottom pin of the clearo out - just a touch. It could be that it's not making good contact with the battery, and you removing it (and cleaning everything) might re-seat it and then it fires.

Of course it could just be that it leaks as you suspect. It certainly wouldn't be the first time someone has a leaking CE4 that can't be fixed.

I don't like recommending to vapers that are having issues buy new equipment very often, but in this case, if the above doesn't fix the issue, you might have little choice other than to replace it.

If you're consistently getting juice on top of the battery like that, it's leaking into the center hole. This can happen when filling if you're not careful. Also can happen if you keep it on it's side, which is more likely the higher you fill it. I always keep mine in an upright position, and rarely have any issues. But my brother keeps his in his pocket, and I notice it happens more frequently w/ his. I've always been able to get them to stop leaking tho by blowing out the center hole, and then cleaning the battery off every couple puffs til it stops. Cuz once there's some juice in that hole, it will continue to flow in until you can hopefully stop it. These clearos are so cheap I have 5 different ones in rotation, which I think is another good measure to take, so you're at least giving them a break.

I see that you sorted this out. If you are screwing the clearo too tight, you will push down the center pin on the battery; you can "pull" it back up by gently prying with a small jeweler's screwdriver or dental pick. When you are attaching youre clearo's, stop once you feel it make contact with the battery.
When I started, I was screwing them down all the way and caused one of my batteries to fail. I've already had to re-solder it (which I would not recommend to anyone) and it stopped working again.

Glad to see that it looks like you have resolved the problems and now it is working. The CE4 clearos seem to be pretty problematic, lot of problems reported with them in the forums (some successes too btw). I would suggest you consider other tanks for future purposes, perhaps something with less reported issues than the CE4s. Maybe the iClear series for top coils, or the Kanger series for bottom coils ... either one would likely serve you well with fewer problems.
