So i just got my first reo woodvil today.. it works with a cartomizer... but when I put my rm2 on with a 2.1ohm coil it doesnt fire... i get a solid resistance from post to post so it obviously has continuity... but when i fire it i dont get a voltage from post to post... i measured the voltage without anything on it and it reads a voltage from centre post to outer post. but as soon as the rm2 goes on nothing happens... its like the threading isnt long enough to reach. ive tried screwing it on as tight as i could too and still nothing.. im really disapointed and frustrated at this point.. can someone help?

I know you got the RM2 from Robert and asked for it to be milled to fit a Woodvil right?

Hey, matt! Captain obvious here. It obviously isn't making connection. Is the center pin loose? Have you tried pushing the center pin up? The carto may have pushed it down. Congrats on the Woodvil.

Yes i backed off the centre pin as much as i could and pushed it up, tried to back it off some more then it just started twisting, i knew something was wrong... i was right, the wire from the switch snapped off and i am currently attempting to resolder a new piece of wire from the switch to the top of the centre pin

Do you have any other mod to try RM2 on? Also, even though the RM2 has been milled down did you give Robert the ID of your smallest catchcup? The catchcups vary greatly ID and height. Note, I have not had any milled down far enough for my smallest ID catchcup, yet, but all are milled down to fit Metal Mini 14500. Out of a bunch of Woodvil 18490 and 14500 very few will accept any of the RM2s I have. Some won't even allow RM2 to go down in cup but some will but the fit is so tight they can't screw in far enough for contact.

Sorry for your problems. Hope it is resolved soon.

Because of the wide range of catchcup IDs how bout we start a data base of measured CCs on our various woods. Cup height, too. I haven't gotten all my Woods out to try my current RM2s on but I do know that at least one 18650 Woodvil CC won't accept any of my general milled down RM2s.

I can't make any more adjustments Rob, I already unscrewed the centre post too much and snapped the red wire from switch to centre pin off and had to solder a new wire on.... Not pretty but it works , and whenever I attach the RM2 without a coil... It shorts out every single time. It works perfect with a cartomizer, is it possible to call and talk to you? Or can you answer some emails? I already sent one. My spring has already collapsed several times now... I'm so upset :(

This is my first REO , I know nothing about using them with RBA's, all I know is it's working fine with a cartomizer , but I'd really like to use the RM2 I purchased... Now I'm screwed. I hope this doesn't happen with my 14500...

you're not screwed. you can vape with the carto, right, while the RM2 gets sorted out?

a word of advice for after the RM2 issue gets fixed-- until you get a little more time with RBAs under your belt, i would encourage you NOT to use those precious Woodies to test-drive your RM2. even if you don't have a metal Reo, you can always give it a go on any other mod just by using it as a dripper. i have an old ego-style battery and a $15 mech and i use one or the other to test and dry-burn builds before they even see a metal Reo. (plus, i test them on an ohmmeter and a Vamo.)

none of my Woodies see my RM2 builds until they've proven they can play nice with other mechs.

I cant just sort the RM2 out.. I messed up the guts as well, i made a mess of it but it works.. I need to give it to Rob for a full rebuild.. Luckily my 14500 will come early next week and hopefully that RM2 for that one fits properly... On the other hand I do have some experience with RBA's Zen attys to be exact.. and I made a damn fine coil for this RM2, unfortunetly it shorted out even without the coil on!

the good news is that Rob turns them around pretty quickly. one of my Woodies came with the battery connection just dangling by a wire. it would have been an easy fix, but there was a chance i could mess something up, plus sending it in to the spa offered the additional comfort of knowing Rob could spot anything else i may have missed. the peace of mind was well worth it.

i don't care how long i build coils, my RBAs will always start out in life on a cheap mech. Woodvil kindling, i don't need...
