Problems at the Border?

I want to buy a bunch of stuff from a US supplier and ship it to Canada, i just learned that they can sieze the shipment and send it back to the supplier while I am out $250. Does anybody know if this is true? Is there a way around it?

I have heard alot being sized lately. Best to buy from Canadaian suppliers to be safe. bnrk
