Alright here we go. Question for the Do it yourselfers!

Ive been getting into diy eliquid for the past month. I use ejuicemeup for the calc.
Now when i made my mixes they are on point and taste amazing with no nic added.
However if i make a mix with nic in it they are horrible. Burnt/Very Harsh Throat hits beyond belief.
Not sure exactly what im doing wrong.

my nic base is 100% VG 36mg in 60ml flavorless.
im mixing down to 6mg
Generally keeping my mixes to a 75/25 VG/PG
on the calc thats rendering me the following

1.67ml nic
1.3ml PG
5.83ml VG
1.2ml Flavor @12%

When i do this its just horrible. any idea's?
Thanks for the help/suggestings in advance!

I just made up a 3ml base w/ 6mg nic and it does have a peppery/harsh flavor to it. gets worse the more watts/voltage i run on my ipv. So i can see why my flavors go from awesome without it to unbearable with it now. Its an RTS Vapes 36mg 60ml bottle 100% VG nic. was mixed october 21's 2014 and expires sept 2015 so this bottle is only 2 weeks old.

You could try getting nic from another source. I have used RTS nic and had no problems, but anybody can have a bad day, and any vendor can screw up once in a while, IMO.

On the other hand, and this may not be relevant for you, but I vape at 33 mg/ml nicotine. When i take my first puffs in the morning or after eating a full meal, I get a massive TH for my first couple of puffs. After the first 2 or 3 puffs, the TH is just the way I like it (at 90% VG, 10% water, not including flavorings). It does not seem to matter which nic I use, and once my throat is coated, everything is fine. Have you just taken a couple of puffs with your mixes and said yuck, or vaped a few minutes worth to get past the first TH?

Sounds like you are having some progress with reducing flavorings, but you have not specified the name and brand of the flavor. Perhaps there is a synergy between the flavoring and the nic causing a flavor/TH overload? You could try minimizing the PG, which many say reduces TH. If you simply replace the 1.3 ml of PG with 1.3 ml of Distilled Water, you would have a mix that is 75% VG, 12% PG [assuming the flavoring(s) are PG based], and 13% DW. That might be a bit too thin, depending on your hardware.

If you went with 1.67 ml of nic base, 6.3 ml of VG, 0.8 ml of water, and 1.2 ml flavor, you would have a 9.97 ml mix that is 6 mg/ml nicotine, and approximately 80% VG, 8% DW, and 12% PG (again, assuming the flavor is PG based). That might help, or it might not. You could also try reducing the flavorings, as you have done, along with eliminating the added PG, and shooting for flavoring + DW = 20%, VG = 80%, at your desired nic level.

I'd drop RTS a line and see what they say. In the mean time you might try some heavy vg mixes with a little distilled water to thin it. It might not be your favorite tasting but will maybe get you through until you can get some fresh nic. Good luck and I hope you get it sorted soon.

Ive tried two different flavors with the Nic base. Butterscotch & Peach Both TFA Product. As far as TH goes myself and my buddy who regularly are using bases of 12mg rather then 6mg couldnt stand it. And we both tried to stick with it for about 5ml worth to see if it got better. It seems not too powerful when done in small 3ml content but once the amount is bumped to a 10ml quantity is when it gets horrible. Hardware wise im using an ipv2 with a mephisto rda so not sure if i want to Thin it out to much and get messy. But im going to give you 80%vg 8%DW 12%pg mix a shot and see what resolves.
