I know it's only been less than 48 hours since getting my 901 and it has been great. I think that in that time i've had maybe 6 analogues, and not really missing them either.
My question is .... does/did anyone else have a problem getting past that "first one after getting up" analogue and how did they deal with it.
I'm trying not to pressure myself too much. But at the same time i am so impressed with how i'm doing (how easy it is) the rest of the time that it seems a shame to give in to tobacco even it is just once or twice a day.

Btw hope everyone has had/is having (depending on time zone) a good xmas day :D.

I am same time frame as you 48 hours! and finding exactly same thing need that first real cig hit! only had 4 analogues all day but the one in morning the killer one hahha! Probably expecting to much really as all other methods i`ve tried gum+inhalor would be pulling my hair(if I had any!) out by now and been fine on E cig. Am going try in morning without and make sure put a fresh cartrige in so get a good at back of throat hit haha! think that half of battle convincing yourself you have enough nicotine to get going! Even so considering from 20+ to 3/4 a day is prety good sure we will get there!

Merry Christmas! God Bless! Hallelujah! Exploding Candy Canes!!

Nonsense aside, I don't know from personal experience, but I've lurked here for quite a while, and some other people were having the same problem. The solution was to get a really strong e-liquid (fierce-36mg) with a strong throat hit for that first smoke in the morning. Maybe set aside another atomizer just for the strong stuff, so you get it undiluted.

Hi UkUsa, a few days ago I was on 40+ 16 mg analogs a day. I think in the morning, or after meals, that it's really important to have a fresh battery and some strong juice. The strongest I could get locally was 28mg and I've been very impressed with the level of nicotine I can feel it deliver. I read about all the symptoms of nicotine overdose, but haven't experienced any side effects so far and I'm currently vaping like a steam train all day long.

I have now converted to drip smoking for the times I want a strong hit (24/7 lol). I can't believe I'm starting my 3rd day of no analogs, I never thought it would happen.

I found I didn't have to put any pressure on myself to do anything, not that that has ever worked before. I've just lost interest in analogs, as they taste like crap. I hope my mindset stays like this and GL with your endevours.

Oh yes... The big morning time cross over! My routine was... wake up, make coffee, go outside and light up! Now for me, it was a huge oral fixation thing. It was definitely an adjustment, but if you hang in there and just keep thinking of the eCig as the real thing, it makes the adjustment much smoother! My experience was after about a month or so, my anologue cravings where practically all gone. Not completely but mostly. And you wil find that if you happen to slip up and give into a craving... That anologue will taste horrible! The last one I had made me nauseous! Im over it. Yay! I wish you the best, and hang in there!

It wasn't necessarily the first smoke of the day for me...it was the idea of NOT having a cigarette, for some reason. When I decided to switch to the e-cig, I had a pack and half left. I was typically a pack a day smoker. I immediately went to two analogs per day...After a bit, I was down to just half a pack of analogs. I realized, crap, these will be gone in no time if I continue to smoke them at the rate of 2 a day....I should stop. For about 2 weeks, I carried that half a pack everywhere I went...just in case. Now they are in my car...just in case....

It's a head game, in my opinion. There were times I would "want" a cigarette...but then when I really thought about it, I realized they didn't taste that good and they made me smell bad, so I wouldn't smoke an analog. I really think the trick is getting inside your own brain and figuring out what the deal is....what is it you REALLY want? Is it a cigarette OR is the idea of it?

Guys, guys. Don't sweat it. You're 2 days in to e-smoking! Just give yourselves a bit of time, and you will (propably)forget all about analogues :)
I went from a pack a day to 3-4 cigarettes in a couple of days. I stayed at 3-4 a day for about a month, before i decided i didn't really want the analogue cigs.
I've been e-smoking for almost six months now, and feel no need for analogue cigs at all.
Everybody converts at different rates; if you still want an analogue after e-smoking for two days, have one! I had been smoking for 25 years, and i don't think smoking 3-4 cigs a day for a month made much of a difference.

---Oh yeah, and Merry Christmas to all----

Thanks for all the replies everyone, very encouraging. I like the idea of using a higher nicotine cart in the morning. Have seen the bottles of 36mg so maybe i need to order some of that sometime.

I really can't change my routine too much, our house has a pretty tight routine in the morning and if that gets changed everyone gets messed up, but will definitely think more on that idea.

Even so considering from 20+ to 3/4 a day is prety good sure we will get there!

I think so too, had that first one this morning, well i had three puffs put it out, went back to it 10 minutes later, 3 puffs more. Had another one half about 3pm, just to see how it wpould taste. Hmmm rough and too strong, got a little nauseous and started to cough, something i don't normally do with analogues

Clavit - Thanks backing up exactly what i've been thinking.

Momswann .... funny, i have an open pack of marl 27's in my drawer here and a couple left in a pack in my desk at work. Already they just don't taste right. So that's good

I'm not going to beat myself up at all over it, and i'm probaly still going to go old school in the morning for a while, really just wanted to see what everyone else had to say on the subject.

I drip first thing in the AM. That's about the only time of day I drip. I figure it gets my atomizer primed for the day and it gives that nice first puff that you need. As an added bonus my first sip of coffee is "cherry high" flavored. For me the wake up vape/smoke and smoking when driving are the hardest habit to break. I haven't had a real cig since nov 23rd and I think I could almost quit vaping if it wasn't for waking up and driving.

Sweet lib ... i will definitely hang in, there's no way i'm giving this up :D. It's so nice not to have go out every 45 min to an hour especially here in iowa when it's around 10f or colder outside.

satake ... that is an idea, i'm not back at work till next monday so i'll have time to try that. I have an order in to JC for their sampler pack. Once that gets here i will have more options of juice to drip with. Already thinking of trying a vanilla/choc/coffee mix. Right now all i have is kick juice coffee. i guess that would go good with the morning coffee :)

Don't worry too much about it. I've had my e-cig for a couple of weeks now and today was the first day I haven't smoked at least 2 analogs. For me, after meals was the killer. The last few days they have tasted like crap; I killed off a pack yesterday and have no intention of buying more :) So don't sweat it, don't think about it, it will happen when it happens. And even if it doesn't, going from a pack a day down to 1-2 is still a miracle as far as I'm concerned.

...And that's the critical bit. If you have an analog, it's not like you "fell off the wagon" and are doomed to 20+ forever... You made a choice to get your nic from an analog at that moment. You'll be vaping again in no time. It tastes better, makes you feel better, etc.

Just take it as it comes. If you spend the next 2 months smoking an analog in the AM, I won't be shocked... but in 6 months you might be 100% vape without even thinking about it...

I had to change my routine slightly to overcome the morning cigarette. I always stop at the 7-11 on my way to work to get coffee and smoked two before I got to work. It took two days of not stopping at that 7-11 to break the habit. I can now go to the 7-11 and get my coffee w/o being tempted to buy a pack.

After I broke that one, all a sudden it became about the cigarette after dinner. THAT one took me 3-4 days to break and I have no idea how I did it LOL. Once I was able to do it, I quit completely.

I agree with the others, don't pressure yourself. Just do it when and if you can and if you can't or don't want to...one or two a day is much better than 20. Good luck to you! :D

i was able to get off that first cig the first morning! was just vaping like a fiend. i i had that same idea for stronger stuff and ordered 36 mg for the morning and for work where i cant vape much. unfortunately after being down to 2 analogs my second day(neither was within 3 hours of waking:D) it appears my atomizer and battery died prematurely(possible short or something). i even ordered extra stuff within 24 hours of receiving my initial order 'cause i was so happy with it. so im fully back on analogs until those extra parts arrive(probably a few more days-im in delaware with the holiday and weekend coming up to slow the mail:cry:).

UKUsa, you have the right idea, don't sweat it. So what if you have a couple of real ones? :)

First one in the morning was the one that nagged at me. The way I did it was to just vape a High mg juice instead - sweet and simple. It took willpower but it worked by taking the urge for a real cig away. Imagine coffee flavoured juice with a nice cuppa coffee ;-)

I've started 5-6 people on e-cigs now and they always ask me this questions, "Well what if i smoke a real cigarette or want to?"
My answer is always, "Go ahead and smoke one."
The truth is e-smoking is just better/more interesting/more fun/less horrible. One way or the other if you have had the e-cig in your mouth and you're perceptive of how you feel, you will completely switch over to the e-cig. I was without my e-cig at a bar the other day and had a real cig and i have to admit it tasted terrible. I don't know what i was thinking smoking those things.

Anyways, good luck and you'll do fine. From my perspective e-smoking is far superior to regular smoking.

I still have a couple of cigarettes at either end of the day, they still taste fine (worryingly I seem to be the only one that thinks that....). But for the rest of the day I use the e-cig in my studio which is now smoke free which is a great joy. I never intended to cut down or stop, so no pressure - it's just an unintended consequence for which I am grateful - down from 25 to around 5 a day has to be good no matter what happens in the future.

Spike ... that's about where i am now. Wasn't planning to quit but had to try this out. It is so easy 98% of time to not smoke analogues, just them few times that are a bit touch and go.
We'll see how i do over time. I just got back from an after xmas shopping trip with my stepson. It's a 60 mile round trip to the nearest mall. Was nice to be able to vap with him in the car.
Iowa has a statewide smoking ban and i don't have the stones yet to wip this thing out in a restaurant. Some day maybe :D

UkUsa I too had a problem with quiting the morning analogue. Since I never smoked in the house I would grab my coffee and head out the back door for my morning smoke. For me to stop I would grab my coffee, my e-cig then head out the back door. I found that after several times I quit going outside all together and stayed inside.
Hang in there it just takes some retraining.
