Okay. Just got done.

28ga Kanthal twisted. 9 wraps on a 3/32nd bit.

Adjusting and glowing.

Checking ohms. Initial showing .3. So I'm at .9 ohms. Lowest I've gone.

All wicked up.

Hopefully the OP can get a good idea from this thread now.

Short burst and I can feel the vapor already. Started doing double-triple hits inhaling and exhaling at the same time letting go between hits was on point. Vapor was warm for me. Not used to that. I actually coughed on this build. Woo wee. Tastes was definitely there. I like it a little more than the micro but I got so used to the micro it was kind of hard to stray away. Give another day and I will know for sure. But it's chucking. Can't wait to try on the new juices coming in from Alhusion. 90VG/10PG mix. Thanks Drifter!!! Next, time to get Kraken.....

Nice work! Excellent pics and looks like a great coil build Bro!

Yes, using 28G vs 30G kanthol will produce lower ohms and produce a warmer vape.
Looks like your getting plenty of vapor production too!

I'm glad this build has inspired you and hopefully it will stand the test of time for you compared to the micros you have been using.

It's nice to try different builds and compare the differences, that's what vaping is all about :)

Hopefully the OP will try this build and get good results too ;)

You may be tasting an abundance of cotton along with the ejuice flavor. Your Kayfun is going to amplify flavors, I hope you cleaned the device because vaping on machine oil will taste bad too. 10w can work well in the Kayfun, but remember you may need to drop it down because it can burn around 10. I hope you find the problem.

I didn't see cleaning mentioned. If it's a new Kayfun make sure it gets a major good cleaning as machine oil can get stuck in the nooks and crannies. A good soak in hot water, scrubbed with a brush, and a serious wipe down with PGA. Even a small quantity of left over machine oil can cause a nasty taste and leach into your juice.

That would be a #40 number drill or a 2.5mm metric drill. Closest fractional drill bit would be a 3/32 drill at .0938 inches.

Using the .098 size should also allow you to use 2.5mm Silica or Eko-Wool wicks instead of cotton, and still have nice coil contact using those types of wicks.

However, for me, cotton is King in terms of flavor and wicking ability ;)

WOW, that's big.
I'm a newbie at building coils and have been using a rod .072 with 30 ga Kanthal, about 8 wraps and getting 1.8 ohms.
I haven't been real happy with how long it takes to heat up, so tried some 28 ga with 12 wraps and getting 1.6--7 and it takes almost a second more to get to the glow that the 30 does.
Would going to a larger dia of wraps, say .090 with 28 ga heat up faster? Doesn't seem like it would, but had to ask.
Running both micro coils at 10 watts.

This link will explain it better than I can describe: Kanthal Wire Guide
