Not sure that you would really need a mechanical mod to get the best. What setup are you currently using and what issues are you having? Even if you think there's room for improvement, i.e. better flavor, that's cause for at least considering how to better your vape experience.

But need to know what you're using, gotta have a base line. ;)

I'm not really having any issues since I joined this community. I'm currently using a sigelie zmax with a protank 2. I'm about 1 week into rebuilding and I'm making 1.5 ohm microcoils with cotton for my wick. I have my voltage set to 3 volts and I'm getting an amazing throat hit with a good amount of vapor. I'm not sure if it cam be any better with what I have but if it can then I want it to be. I've only had my zmax for a week now and I know I can get more out of it and I don't think my coils can be made any better thanks to all the great help I've gotten on this thread. I've been vaping for 2 months now after 32 years of smoking and up until joining ECF it wasn't a good experience. I just want to get the best throat hit possible and most vapor I can. I'm sure everyone here wants that also
I'm using 32 gauge kanthal

1.5Ω with 32GA? How many wraps and what diameter?

That'd be pretty hard to beat without getting an RDA and doing dual coils or something with your wire. I suggest you check out RBA subforum and read up on the micro coils thread and ask around for tips on getting more vapor.

Also check out this thread: Protank Vertical Coil.

Best of luck :)

Love this thread. Vertical coils seem easier to me to make than than the horizontal ones. And I don't have to worry about threading a piece of cotton into that tiny hole. I've been making my vertical coils and using them on T3s with great results. I highly recommend giving a vertical a try. :)

Inside diameter is 1/16 with 6 wraps. I tried that vertical method and did not have a good outcome but I'll keep trying. Nobody I know vapes so I can't compare my setup. For all I know you could be right and it's not going to get much better. But in no way am I unhappy with my setup currently

I use a 1/16 drill bit with 10 wraps of 30g and get about 2 ohms when I do verticals. I was having all sorts of trouble shorting out the coils until I figured out if I wrapped a small piece of cotton between the down leg and the coil it acted like an insulator. No more shorts and the coils work excellent.

Very smart, I didn't think of that. I couldn't quite figure out how high to set the coil in the base and I overstuffed the sides with cotton. It was a complete disaster. I'm willing to try again
