Hi everyone. I am new to vaping. Can anyone tell me if they have had any problems with taste after vaping for a while. I am currently vaping on totally wicked's blended virginia and after 5-6 vapes I cannot taste anything. I have to put the vape down for a good hour before I can get the taste back. I am using the ego-c but the same happens when I use cartomizers. Has anyone experienced this and if so is there any solution to this problem?

With cartomizers, it sounds like you may not be filling them enough. How many drops do you put in? With a Boge it should be at least 20.

Tanks, well sorry can't help ya there as I don't use them.

Atomizers, you should add more drops about every 5 drags. 3 drops is usually the dependable choice.

Also it may just be that your taste-buds are wonky right now if you are filling your cartomizers correctly, and adding juice when it's appropriate to your atomizer. Your taste buds went though a lot of abuse from smoking and may just need some time to heal. The taste will come back. In the mean-time be sure you're drinking plenty of water! At the very least one glass per hour of vaping especially when just starting out vaping.

Hello & welcome Drcig :)

I think most folks will have experienced the same as you at one point or another. It's most likely your taste buds not working a they should due to smoking. I also think that sometimes it's a tad like wearing a perfume/aftershave & after a while you can't smell it on yourself.

Have a look at some of the other Uk vendors. Some will mix juices to how you like them & even their standard juices tend to come with a lot more flavour than some others.

Two of my fave juice suppliers are -

Paradise Vape -
Paradise Vape UK _ Vape dont smoke

And Vape Escapes Grizwald juices (use code ECF10 for 10% off) -

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.
My suspicion was that it was the taste buds. Is this something that you get over after a while?

Thanks for your response. I thought it was the taste buds as well. I hope this is something you get over as I love the taste of blended virginia and could vape on this for 10-15 minutes no problem except I cannot taste anything after 5-6 vapes!

Absolutely. This will pass. Your body just needs time to fix itself up.

Thanks Frosting,

That's really reassuring. I have been despairing for the last 2 days as I was just not getting a long enough hit or taste! Can't wait for that taste to last longer. It's funny how the taste was lasting as long as you like for the first 2-3 days but now only for 4-6 vapes depending on how long I have between vaping!

Hello and welcome from me as well. Most vapers do go through the no tasting phase. I even went through it recently after over 2 years of vaping. For times like that I just use unflavored liquid because there is no sense is wasting my good juice if I can't enjoy it lol. It's usually short lived, however. Drinking water or eating something palate cleansing helps as does using a liquid with a stronger flavor like a menthol or mint.

It's quite common, DrCig. I call it the flavor wall.

My own experience is that it's a phenomena most closely associated with carts and cartos, or any other delivery system that mutes flavor vis-a-vis dripping.

That said, I drip exclusively these days, and it still happens to me. Oddly, it never happened when I was smoking, but whatever. I combat the problem by keeping multiple flavors of liquid within reach, at least one of them a hair-straightening menthol type. All I can do is keep my taste buds on their toes, not knowing what I'll throw at them next.

As a general thing, it works pretty well.

Took me about 4 weeks before my taste buds really started to come back but everyone is different.
Also hot drinks such as coffee or tea will dumb down your tastebuds for a while and I'm still getting off days when the flavours aren't as pronounced.

As mentioned, plenty of water to keep you hydrated. I also found using mouthwash 3 times a day helped.
Final thing to mention is that continued use of the same flavour will tire out your tastebuds. Same principle applies as good food, find something to refresh your pallette, for example try alternating flavours, especially where they contrast each other, for example, tobbacco vs fruit

Good discussion here. I just starting vaping heavily this weekend instead of analogs. I think my tongue is wore out. I actually feel a burn after 2-3 hits (first one is good, then just burns with no flavor at all). I've been drinking a lot of fluids (Diet Coke, Beer, water). It seems when I drip I get a much more satisfying flavor/hit.

I vote for dehydration and/or filler dry out. If you are using a tank, you may need to enlarge the feed holes in the carto to allow more juice flow from the tank. If the carto is not well saturated, weak flavor and vapor will be the result.

You might want to use this method to fill the carto on the initial fill to start it off with full saturation. You'll have to run a piece of clear tape around the carto to seal the holes before inserting it into the condom. An alternate method is to stick a round toothpick into the air tube of the carto and fill it by keeping the top of the carto flooded until it doesn't sink in anymore.

Interesting thread for me this! I just started over the weekend and, as I said in my Hello post, I was doing it all wrong and this evening is a "New Start" for me. I have had the situation where I got a mouthful of taste and a good bite but the next few were tasteless and just a bit burnt. I find that if I let the E-cig alone for 10 minutes or so the taste comes back a lot better then. Maybe I need to sort my topping up routine out a bit.
I've got a lot to learn and, as they say, "You can't educate Pork"!

Dripping will always a more concentrated, more flavorful hit than any other delivery means. Yes, it's inconvenient; yes, you can't (or shouldn't) do it while driving. But after trying all the carts, cartos, CE2s, tanks and what-have-you in creation, nothing is better.

You guys are great. This is really good that others have experienced the same problem. I just want to get over/through the wall and be able to taste blended virginia or Ryan4 all the time. Like someone mentioned above, if I leave it alone for 30+ minutes then I can have 4-6 hits of decent taste. Interestingly this does not happen with all flavours. With pure tobacco flavour I seem to get the same taste everytime as I do with menthol.

Excellent advice. I just tried menthol then went back to blended virginia and it certainly improved the taste. I guess you have to keep them tastebuds guessing. Looks like the menthol really confuses the tastebuds or resets them!

DrCig, do you like menthol at all? If so, I've heard from many folks on AAE-C that a good menthol juice can get your taste buds working again :) They don't have to be pure menthol, you could try cherry menthol, honey menthol etc.

Hi Chrissie,
I just wanted to include you in this advice as well as I forgot to quote your excellent recommendation! I just tried menthol then went back to blended virginia and it certainly improved the taste. Thanks @DaveP. I think I need to give cartos a try. I'm using cartidges/attys now and I think I'm having a wicking problem as others discussed. I'm really new to all of this so trying to figure out the best method. I travel (by air) a lot so I'm trying to find something that gives a good hit but won't get me jacked up by TSA ;-) I really don't want to travel through security with juice even though I know I can put it in the clear baggy.
