I am sing the BE-112 from Best. I have a million of them (I am a dealer) and the burnt plastic thig did not happen at first. In fact, for the first week or two I could vape until the cart was almost dry. The PD was great at using all the liquid in the cart. Now I get that burnt taste if I do not have it fully topped off. Just weird. Still love the damn thing though! I think I might need to get the 901 adaptor. :thumb:

Remember, every time you top it off it leaves a bit of old juice in the bottom. Eventually the juice in the cart will have a thicker consistency and not wick as well. When you notice you are putting fewer and fewer drops when topping off it is time to change carts.

MY pt is melting carts with a new atty. It's a 510.

EDIT: Just tossed on a prefilled cart and it started melting after 3/3sec puffs. This is not a good sign. Is this happening to anyone else? I have an atty on that has gone through less than 20 said puffs.

You mean the plastic itself is melting? I am not sure how the manufacturer makes the carts, but if it is plastic injection molding the minimum temperature for that is I think 300 degrees. I don't think your atomizer would be able to produce that kind of temperature to melt plastic. Is it perhaps the wool filling of the cart that is melting?

Hey, Save, I'm having the same issue. Got a funny taste with my PT, pulled the cart to see what was going on, and noticed the cart had melted. It looked like two half moons, one on each side at the bottom. I rotated the cart, and got the same thing on the other sides. I have an 801, with the high bridge (attys came when PT came), and the new carts designed for the high bridge attys. I had been using it for a while before that happened, though, so I figured I just let it get too hot. No damage to the atty that I could see, though, and it's still working fine.

I loved the PT and the Prodigy when I first got them. Then I went thru 6 atty's in a matter of 2 days...including the new ones I bought with them. I tried everything that was posted on how to install them and checked them over. But still toasted them with just a few puffs. So I have gone back to my 901 because I can't afford 60 bucks a week in atty's.

So when you come up with an atty Steve I will try again then. Don't get me wrong you guy's have the best customer service and I will continue to order atty's and juice.

Hey Angel I have had the exact same issues as you have. I thought maybe I was doing something wrong and so I ordered new attys last week to see if it was just the attys I had and the possibility of the one that came with the Prodigy. So out of 9 atty's I am now down to 1. Like you I can't afford to buy 4-5 atty's a week.

At least once a day I was having the issue of the unit acting like it was not getting power or making contact so I also ordered new batts last week thinking that part of the problem was that my batts weren't lasting as long.

Unfortunately for me by the time I was able to troubleshoot all the issues I was having I was at day 8 and so now I can't return the unit.

At this point I don't know what to do but I do know I can't afford this unit. My one saving point is I have one atty and lots of batts for my 901.

To my shame I actually had to smoke an ananlog yesterday after almost 4 months analog free. It was so gross!!

thought i was going through atomisers like crazy.threw 5 away yesterday now i wish i would not have.turns out all atomisers on my prodigy only work when they are barely screwed on.
all of the atomisers ive borrowed from a friend only work when they are barely turned on the prodigy, they are very wiggly.i'm sure this cant be correct?
if i screw the atomser on so that it does not rock back and forth,it will not work.i've watched the movie alot of times and checked out the entire thread you mentioned.i cannot tell if the adapter is good or not, compared to the pics.i love the prodigy ,just not having the best luck .
even with only a 1-2 second button push, the atomiser is to hot to touch almost.something is definatly wrong, but my parts look like the pics saying they are good.just very loose (wiggly)atomiser.so now i'm down over $70.00 in atomisers.i'm done i guess.cant afford any more.spent every available dollar with puresmoker, look at all the orders.any way to rush that replacement adapter(hoping it comes with atomiser),and/or the 801 adapter.please,please.cant stand having no nic in me,wont smoke a real cig.thanks for all the help.i dont mean to .....,just real frustrated and broke.
i email this to casey and she was very helpful.they are sending me a replacement adapter.just would really like to know what is causing all of my problems.thanks

Ive been vaping on my Prodigy all day every day for the past month and I still am using the same atomizer. I blow it out and clean it twice a day. Every other night I take the atty off of the Prodigy and turn it upside down on a paper towel. No problems here. I also make sure not to over heat it, I just touch it and make sure its not blazing hot, if it is I wait 30-60 seconds.

Dont know if this is any help, but wanted to give my 2c

Hey Steve,
Well first if I could figure out how not to post the same message twice it would be helpful. Here are my issues:

1. Within 48 hours 4 of the attys I already had just stopped working. I don't think they are flooded as I have blown them out and there's no juice coming out. I attached alll of them to my 901 batts (tried all batts as well) and blew on them to heat up the atty in case there was build up and no go. They were just dead.

2. At least once a day I have to take the entire unit apart..remove batts and end cap where atty is attached and then put it back together because the unit acts like it either isn't getting power or making contact.

3. Since I was down to 3 attys I ordered 3 more from you guys last week thinking that maybe the old attys I had were not up to par to handle the Prodigy. Got those on Friday (7/24) and started using them on Friday night. By Saturday all 3 were acting as if they were flooded. Note that I don't drip directy onto the atty as the first few times I tried this the flavor didn't taste as good to me as with the brand new carts I was using. I changed batts took the unit apart and put back together..nothing.

4. Saturday night I was vaping away with the atty that came with my unit and got this nasty burnt plastic taste in my mouth. So I though gosh I must have melted the cart. Nope..I think it was the filler that was the problem. Added another cart onto the atty and it was dead.

5. Tried my last remaining atty (one of my old ones that didn't die) on the Prodigy and it didn't want to work. Panic....as I thought I was now out of attys. Tried my old atty on my 901 battery and voila it worked. So I thought ok the problem is something is wrong with the Prodigy.

6. I have not been able to get the vapor that most are saying they get with their Prodigy's since I received it. I understand that if I were to drip instead of using a cart that theoretically I should get more vapor but I actually get more vapor from my 901 system then I have ever been able to get from my Prodigy.

Please temper my next comment with the understanding that I know you guys have great customer service reviews and I am in NO WAY trying to slam your business. Your company was the reason I went into e-cigs because you were willing to help a newbie with information, even though at the time you weren't selling any product because you were out of stock. This is before the Prodigy came out on the market. Until Saturday I was analog free since April 6, 2009.

The end cap that you screw on the battery housing looked like someone has used it with some type of tool or the machine that cuts the metal cap made a couple of grooves on the edge of it. At the time it bothered me but I was so excited to get my unit that I didn't care I just wanted to vape. But when you have what now ends up being over $200 invested in a unit and accessories it kind of bums you out.

Thanks for hearing me out.

Gary,
Well I know it isn't the batts and the carts (with the exception of the burnt tasting one) they are all working fine. The problem seems to be the atty's and the Prodigy.

I chain vape on the weekends and since April I have only had to replace two attys and I think 3 batts on my 901. I take pretty good care of my attys given that I have 5 different flavors of juice so it's important to me to keep a good rotation of attys, carts and batts on hand.

Hi Bubbas Mom, I too, have this connection problem. I use the 801. At least once a day I have to take my unit apart and put it back together. It will work like crazy for awhile and then when I push the button, nothing.:(

I know it is not the batteries as they are freshly charged and work fine for awhile. I checked my atty with 801 bat and it works fine. So, I take the batteries out, take the adapter off and put the unit back together. and Viola... it works. Very puzzling. I lost 3 attys the first weekend, but I now know that they were too dry and got way too hot. I just chalked it up to "the learning curve". I am dripping as I cant get my 801 carts to draw very well and also get the burnt taste. I tried cutting off an 801 cart to work with the high bridge too. BTW I really like dripping, much better hit and taste.

I also have this weird problem: I turn my attys upside down each night. When I am ready to use, it put a couple of drops in take a short hit, put a few more drops in and wow, tons of vapor and a great hit. But... then after a couple of hits the atty just kinda fizzles out, almost like the battery is going dead, or the atty is flooded, when I know this cant be. I know the atty is good as it works fine on my 801. (istarted with an 801 in March and used the same 3 attys) after fiddling with it for a bit, the atty fires up again. BTW This happens with all attys not just one, I just got new attys .

I absolutely love my Prodigy, it is all I wanted in a pv and more as far as power, vapor and TH. but need some help troubleshooting this issue too. Thought I finally found a pv that I didnt have to fiddle with. I am not giving up on it, Steve, any ideas on this issue?? Thanks much:) BTW I checked my switch and looked at the resistor, all looks great. I ordered 4 new batteries last night just to be sure.

Update: I am vaping now and it is working perfectly. Im confused. LOL

Puffin,

Your issue sounds like a poor contact point. The threads and center contact post on your adaptor and atty's may need a good cleaning, Is the battery spring centered good on the metal of the battery when you assemble it? Maybe the bottom of the battery does not have enough exposed metal in the center to maintain good contact with the spring?

Thanks so much for your quick reply. I took it apart and cleaned all contact points, got a lot of black crud off of them. Firing nicely right now. (this is the second time you saved my bacon):) Also, went next door to my dad's and he checked it with the meter, I have a good 5v.

Now, gotta really pay attention and not blow any more attys. I had one this morning that worked great, went to take a hit and nadda. I am not blaming my Prodigy at all for this, I just need to learn to use it correctly. I cant watch any of the vids as I have dial up. So am reading all that I can on the forum! So thankful for all of the great help here!
