Just got my V2 and couldn't wait to start using it. I took my batteries out of my V1 and they wouldn't fit into the V2. They are the blue rcr123's. Damn. Then I recalled reading in another thread that Steve only uses the orange, brown (what the **** color are those????) and I do have those in another device. So I ripped the right bats out and dropped them into the V2. Well I actually couldn't drop them in. The tollerance is so close that I had to slide them in with purpose. The battery cap screws open and closed very nicely. No problems with ligning it up right or anything. On the V1 I seemed to always have to fight a little bit with the cap to get it on right. Not with the V2.

OK, bats in! I took the 801 atomizer that I was using off of the V1 and screwed it onto the V2. Went right on. Great! I take my first drag of the V1. The cloud of smoke is way larger than the V1. Taste of the juice on the V2 is more flavorful than on the V1. Don't know why this should be, but it is what I am experiencing. Maybe Steve has some solid reasons for this.

The vapor seems a slight bit warmer coming from the V2. I do drip and the 801 atty gets warmer as well. In addition the body of the V2 warms up quite a bit more than the V1 ever did. The metal of the V2 must be a much better conductor of heat or the black powder coating of the V1 is a better insulator.

I really like the industrial look of the satin finish. I like it a lot better than the black powder coat of the V1, and I really liked the black finish a lot.

The feel and heaft of the V2 is very very VERY nice. Grimm Green states that he does not like the laser ettching of the logo. I vap with my left hand and I don't feel the logo in my hand at all. If I run my finger over it I feel it. But if I just hold it normally I don't notice it at all.

This new smaller mechanical button is going to take some getting used to. The other button on the V1 fits my left thumb just right. I can easily know when I have it in or out. This newer smaller button on the V2 is so small that I have trouble feeling if it is depressed all the way or not. I have started using the end of my thumb nail and this seems to work just fine and gives me a much greater sense of the button and its operation. The action of the button is very very VERY smooth and quiet.

My final opinion of the Prodigy V2 is a virtual two thumbs up. I can't give it an actual two thumbs because the left thumb is too busy vap'n right now. This is one very very VERY SWEET VAP'N TUBE!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Steve and all at PS. You have done it again. Keep up the great work.

Thanks that was a great review. Do you think the New Prodigy is running a little higher voltage than the old?

does the button at least need to go flush before firing? this is important for us pocket transporters.

It appears that the button does not go all that way to flush before firing. I do not know what effect this will have when carried in a pocket. I just got this at work today. When I go home I will throw it in my jacket pocket and see what happens and let you know.

V2 is running about .3 - .4v higher than the old Prodigy V1. That, and the V1 has lost conductivity over time ... :) You are feeling fresh amperage, fresh voltage, with no oxidation anywhere :)

My care package is arriving tonight, so I'm making a pit stop at Home Depot before going home to pick up some Noalox and Brasso  (Just ordered some Brass T-Tips last night as well)

I didn't realize there was an issue with oxidation in the V1. Will that be an issue with the V2, or does the change in materials address that?

I've had my V2 since last night and as of this very early moment it has not failed to meet my expectations.

I had not a single problem getting her going, I ordered the 510 and all my attys seem to work just fine. I had some old V1 batteries charged and waiting and she fired right up.

I too will need some time to get used to the new button. I liked how the V1's button was wider and recessed into the housing when pressed. This button seems loose and it; as well as the housing, move up and down when pressed. I wish the button and housing were aluminum to match the look of the stainless, but I'm sure Steve has his reasons; so this is not a major issue, just an asthetic one.

Overall I'm giving it 4.9 out of 5 stars because of the button, but I have no troubling gripes about this device. I'm sure after a couple of weeks, it will be a full 5 star rating.

Well done Puresmoker, and thanks again Casey.

No problems with the V2 in my pocket on the way home last night. On the way into work this morning I vapped while driving. Here is what I do. When I am finished for awhile and do not want to just hold the V2 I slip it between my midsection and the seat belt so that the end cap is resting on my left thigh around the area of my pocket. It seems to rest there nicely, held in place by the seatbelt. When I want to vap again, I grasp it just below the switch and it pulls out easily. I also allow it to tilt slightly toward the left or drivers door. Works for me.

The threads on the V1 have to be kept scrupulously clean to get full power. I clean mine every two weeks or so. Given that the comparison with the V2 is very close. Changing atomizers can make a larger difference.

Where the V2 excels is in the beautiful fit and finish. It's obvious that a lot of learning took place between the V1 and V2!

I just mentioned the same thing in another thread. Is that normal for this button?

Yup :) -- There is supposed to be a bit of *play* to it. If we tighten up the tolerances, well, remember the first set of mechanical switches for the Protege's? Same thing would happen. If its assembled or not aligned just perfectly, it won't work. Thus, the reason, we kept it open, and we haven't seen a problem yet :)
