Hey Greg ... Contact posts has stayed the same on all versions of our mechanical switch ... They are aluminum. What HAS changed is the contact disk on the button. That is copper or a different gray material.
Got it! I suspected I was looking at the wrong thing. I was sure when I dropped in my RCR123 batteries. Quite nearly choked myself at 6v. So now I'm very happily back at 3.7v.
And I haven't used my V1 or Protege since getting my V2, but when I started using the mechanical switch on my Protege with the copper disk, I noticed a better hit with the Mechanical over the standard tact switch
I can attest to this. There is a much better hit than with the standard tact switch. Mine's working beautifully.
