Have you had it apart to look at it?

If it has a resistor, is it possible that something inside has gotten hot and allowed the tact switch to sink into the Derlin?

The way they're made I can't see how it's throw could increase unless the derlin was sinking away. It's a fixed electrical contact and there's no way the switch could wear away the button material and increase the distance to activate.

Can you take pics? I'm intrigued.

I wish I could explain it better, but it's really just what he's describing. The button starts to get harder to engage, to where you need to 'mash' the button hard and deep for it to fire. I'm thinking that something is causing the soldering / wires to shift, or that the point of contact is getting destroyed making it increasingly hard to satisfy.

I've nearly gone insane trying to keep my V1 tactile switches working. Fortunately now I use other devices and only keep my V1 (and its 3 questionable backup switches) as a last resort. ;-)

Mine was doing basically the same thing. At first I was needing to wiggle the switch a bit. It was almost as if the actual tact switch had shifted a tad out of plumb/level (however you want to look at it). I cut a small circle of thinnish cardboard and put it on top of the tact switch (well, actually below/inside the big plastic switch). It's as if it lengthened one or the other, gave them better contact, and allowed it to work better.
