Tryed my new Prod V2 last night using 510 cart/atty.
The cart was stuffed w/ blue foam which was saturated with juice (PG/VG mix) and droped 1 drop on the atty (dry) before inserting the cart.

Stick in my 2 CR123 batts, screw on my atty, and fire away!!

Oh Oh, smoke (vap) is VERY hot! took about 3 very small hits, still
too hot, removed cart to discover the edges had actually melted!
Yikes! no wonder it was too hot, this thing has the power (5V, which they say is "ideal" for vaping) to fry my carts and atty's every time!

I tryed several ways to do this, including taking out the blue foam (empty cart) and just dripping direct to the atty.
Still too HOT!!

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I am expecting some cartomizers soon, maybe I will have better luck with those?

I know plenty of people use a 510 atty at 5v without an issue like this. Do you have a different atty to try? Apart from that, are you sure the atty was fully wet with juice?

Maybe try checking in the PS sub-forum as well, I know Steve has been super-active in there helping people with various V2 issues. I think there is a sticky'd post in there that will walk you thru testing the device under load to make sure it's putting out 5v.

As far as cartomizers are concerned, they are rock-solid at 5v. I vape about 80% of the time off a 5v passthru without any issues. They worked well at 6v too on a BB from Altsmoke, although you start to notice that some flavors can change quite a bit.

some attys run hotter than others on the 510, I have one that is a bit older and worn and it runs great at 5v. Newer ones burn the juice. The only thong you can do right now is drip! Or you can try a 901 cart, they fit your 510. I use it with poly-fil nufoam. Its avalible at walmart in the crafts section, just keep soaking the cart and atty and you get a good 15 -20 draws ou of it.

Thanks you guys :)

Yep, I knew it was going to get hot because of the increase in voltage, so I made sure my atty was wet right off the bat.
It is strange, I have a bunch of 510 attys, and some seem to work better than others. So the 901's will fit my 510, I did not know that.
How different are those compared with a 510?

I know what's happening, the Prodigy just heats up alot more then the normal 510 batts, so juice get vaporized faster.
I am first filling my cart with enough juice until it is saturated (like I said, I am using the blue foam, and I pull out about 2mm out of the top of the cart so it will make good contact w/ the atty).
Then I drip a few drops of juice directly on the atty and put the cart on.

You simply cant get any wetter then that!
But still, after only one puff, it gets way to hot.
I am even taking very light and gentle drags on it!!

I will play around with it later today, as I said, that was my first time using this thing, so I may yet discover the "trick" ;)

What is the "PS sub-forum"?
