While I KNOW that it's supposed to be pronounced Vari-as-in-variable, in my head it always rhymes with Ferrari.

1.) Rhymes with the car -- or the letter "r"
2.) Ryhmes with very/berry
3.) Rhymes with airy/scary
4.) Rhymes with carry/Larry

Of course, depending where you live, any or all those could all be pronounced the same...

My wife spent a number of her school age years in florida, and then her 20s in TX, so she brought a few southern charms that I have picked up on...like "fixin to" and calling the cats "critters"
