These can be a bit tricky to get used to. For me it seems like at first I was having trouble with it getting too hot, not wicking and leaking everywhere. But once you get past the learning curve, man these things work great!

For the inital priming you might want to start with 6 drops, give them a minute or two to "soak" in, give it a little puff and see if it needs more. From here you should add 2-3 drops at a time when the atomizer is beginning to have a drop in taste. But for me, the key here is in patience. Every time after you add 2-3 drops, you MUST wait for it to soak in or wick. This takes anywhere from 60 seconds to 2 minutes.

At first I was used to the average 510 atomizer, where you can add drops and keep on going. If you neglect to have patience with this 801 you can get a burnt taste even right after you drip. This will cause you to add more drops and then will in turn cause massive leaking which is a mess :)

So if you follow these few rules, you should be right on your way to vaping bliss!

So is the wick under the coil or something like that, because I see no wicking material? I'm use to only 510's and 306's, so this is a totally new animal for me, but I really want to learn.

It doesn't look like there is a wick on my 801's either. The idea is that the liquid should be soaking into the mesh bridge.

Thank you Scorched and Switched for the helpful hints. Thank you Tat Skull for the thread. I was having the same problems as well (burned taste and leaking). I wondered what I was doing wrong. Priming well, patience with the dripping and letting the atty cool avoid many of the problems and frustration. Now I get lots of flavor, plenty of vapor and no hassle. Just have to get used to the slightly stiffer draw. However, a quality product nonetheless. Vape on....

I use them on a bottom fed mod and it's a bit more involved than a 306 or 510, but if you are feeding it properly you will be rewarded with a really nice vape. I usually feed and suck on the atomizer (while not firing) until I get a nice gurgle. Any less and I am getting a very dry burning hit, any more and I may leak. Once I got the hang of it I haven't had an issue either way. I actually find bottom feeding them more forgiving than dripping. Dripping, I had a harder time with dry hits, but the key I learned is patience.

What I like so much about these 801s is the taste, though. It really can't be matched by anything out there.

I agree regarding the heat being similar but the TH better than an similar ohm 306 or 510. Weird when you think about it, but it really does feel that way. You're not getting scorchy hits, but you are getting that nice extra kick in TH.

Edit: Forgot to mention, regarding the stiffer draw - if you are using a 510-801 adaptor, try loosening it up a tad to lighten the draw.
