I have been reading all of these threads and getting a good laugh. I just do the easy thing and go over to My Freedom Smokes and order the pg and vg He has got really good prices on both and the shipping is really fast

Main reason I went with a local option was the cost savings, even compared to MFS (great company btw). The pint I got has only been used for cleaning new/priming attys and cutting a bottle of unflavored nic I picked up. It should last me easily into the summer, if not longer. Can't ask much more for just 11 bucks. :)

Still gathering up new flavors to try out, some will be zero nic for the better half, the PG will be good for that, along with the 2 60ml bottles of Wilton's VG I got at hobby lobby for $1.49 each.

I didn't need a perscription! I called my Walmart pharmacy and asked if the had any "Propylene Glycol" or if it had to be ordered. The lady went off and asked someone, came back and wanted to know what I wanted it for. (I wanted to tell her it was not her business but.....) Well I had already read about some of the problems people were having so I sorta stretched the truth like PatriciafromCO says here in post #9,
When they asked what I need it for I tell them I am making home made natural hand cream,,, which is true for it's usuage
only I told them homemade soap and the recipe said I could get the PG from my local pharmacy and that Walmart was my local pharmacy. They ordered it and I got it the next day!

Here is my experience with Wal-Mart, Hobby Lobby AND Walgreens with finding VG.

First, I went to Walgreens thinking they would have it before any of them and sure enough they didn't even have VG. I looked EVERYWHERE including the skin cream and all. Nobody in the store knew what I was talking about when I asked for Glycerine.

Second, I went to Wal-mart. They had no clue what it was when I asked so I had to go look myself again. It sure enough was where the skin creams are and said GLYCERIN on it "USP" so Wal-mart does carry it.

Third, my room-mate went to hobby lobby and found a brand called "Wilsons" that they sell there and actually the people there knew what the hell he was talking about and directed him to it in the baking supplies i think.

Just chatted with their service rep - the PG is NOT USP grade, nothing they sell is. 'We're a cosmetic company', they said.

Hmmm...that is a bit disconcerting. The PG I ordered from them is labled USP and the VG is labled Kosher, FCC, USP.

Even the pictures they have on their website show the labels with USP clearly marked on them...

Do you think the rep was referencing the fragrance grade (di-propylene glycol) which is listed beside the PG?

If it says "USP" on the label I wouldn't worry about what the sales rep said.

Just out of curiosity, I'm jumping into the DIY lifestyle and I was curious as to how much Walmart was able to order for you? Also did it turn out to be USP?

Propylene Glycol by perscription only?!?!?!?
So yesterday I was in CVS (a local drug store in Illinois). I asked what area of the store that I could find PG in. I got a weird look from the pharmsist and was told after he looked it up that it is only sold by perscription only!!!! WTF?!?!?! I thought with what I have read on here that it is available at any store like Walgreens? Whats the deal people?

Please HELP! I am trying to understand what the he!! is going on here. Did they just out law PG also?

In the USA you can buy it at Wal-Mart, CVS or online.
