Protank 2 atomizers not lasting very long?

Hey guys, I figured this would be the best spot to ask my question. I use the Kanger Protank 2, and buy the atomizer heads in bulk so that I have enough heads to last me a while. I was talking to a fellow vaper at work the other day, and he mentioned that his atomizers last him a month or so before he has to clean them. When I put a new atomizer on my Protank, I get 2-3 days out of it before the juice gets really dark and I need to clean the atomizer. After this, I need to clean the atomizer at least once a day to prevent the juice from getting very dark, almost black. The atomizer itself only lasts about a week if I'm lucky, before it just stops performing to acceptable standards. I was wondering what I am doing wrong here. How can my friend's atomizers last him a month and mine last barely a week? Given, I do vape a lot, but I didn't think it could make this huge of a difference. Last weekend, my atomizer just stopped working in the middle of my work shift. Had plenty of juice, just wouldn't produce vapor. Tried different batteries, and still nothing. Went home and changed the atomizer and it worked fine again. I must be doing something wrong here. Can anybody help me out or give me some ideas on how I can make my atomizers last longer and save some money? Thank you!

Sounds about right. Heat turns juice black. Coil and wick gets gunked up and transfers to the juice. I only get a couple days from burners on the Protanks. Save your old heads as they can easily be rebuilt. Don't think you are doing anything wrong. do a search as there are several ways to clean the ones you have to reuse. GOOD LUCK. CHEERS!

You aren't doing anything wrong.

I have over 100+ used Kanger coils in a bag in my vape box. I accumulated those in under 6 months. I don't even vape very much....

One lasted 8 hours (brand new PT2) and the best lasted just over 5 days. That says it all.

You must be doing it wrong, dj. Either that or your coils are not authentic Kangers. :D

I've been using Kanger coils since February 2013 (I checked) and only had one bad coil--it didn't die, but it just didn't perform well. It was an early T3 coil.

Kanger coils last for weeks with little care--an occasional rinse and dry burn. I use clean, clear and barely sweetened e-liquids and my coils can vaporize at 10-15 ml of ejuice before vapor production and flavor begin to go south. Make sure that your coils are always well saturated and don't exceed Kanger recommended wattages (5-7.5watts).

However, if one uses dark and sweet juices, the gunk accumulates on the coils very fast, It doesn't matter what coils--Kanger, Kayfun, makes no difference. So people who vape dark, sweet juices and NET tobaccos have to clean their coils more often, sometimes daily of every other day, depending on usage.

Every box of authentic Kanger coils comes with a scratch verification code--go to Kangertech website and check if your coils are authentic.

I always rinse the coil after dry-burning--I don't know why the folks who do YouTube tutorials don't:

I got coils from FastTech and they are garbage. Hard to install with tails so short then when you light them up they go all deformed and impossible to get the wick in them. But I do see they sell K1 coils which may be a whole lot better.

Wheelie, I never bought coils from FT--I only buy locally from trusted vendors and I've never had a fake. Every time I checked the verification code on the box it was confirmed by Kanger.

However, I understand that FT sells both knockoffs and authentic brand name products and they clearly identify them. But, of course, I can't be 100% sure.

Always been a lot of Kanger duds for me, especially the higher ohm dual coil ones. The old Protank coils can easily be rebuilt, and are WAY better with cotton wicks. Which is cool, b/c IMO Kanger makes some pretty great tanks.

And even though sometimes it still gurgles and leaks out the airhole, it doesn't do it nearly as much when I rebuild the coil myself.
