Hello everyone. I am trying to find out where that I can find a certain brand of protank coil. I have looked online and I can't seem to find it. The coil on the bottom in second picture, is great (no burnt taste), it came in the protank 2 from the factory. The coil on the top is a replacement coil( horrible burnt taste after one days use). Can any one identify what the coil on the left is and where I can get them. Thanks Danny.

The one you posted with the longer post and ribbed feature is a genuine Kanger Protank coil. I've seen plenty of variations, but I've never seen the other one that is flat on 2 sides. I cannot say why this would come with your Protank, however.

Sounds to me like your wick is being choked. Take the post off the one that doesn't work and remove some - or all- of the extra wicking material (these are strands of silica - usually 2 or 3 - sitting on top of the coil) ...see if that fixes your burnt taste. I would start with "some" as removing all will likely cause the coil to flood and gurgle (the purpose of the extra wicking material to begin with) depending on how thick/thin your liquid is.

There are a lot of variables involved in efficient coil design and wicking ...the least of which is post length and/or whether it has flat sides.

Ah - well - then I got nothing.

I have never seen one that is short and flat on the chimney out of the 100 or so I have gone through  I have had a few knock off coils that are little stubby chimneys that sucked - but OG kangers seem to be consistently good. -shrugs- Sorry I cant help more here...

I'd like to see a picture of your ProTank 2. Did it come in a Kanger box? Does it say Kanger Tech on the tank? On the bottom of the coil you should be able to read the ohm resistance.

Excellent question. I'd like to see this, too. It sounds like the coil, at the very least, is a knock-off--I've also never seen a genuine Kanger coil that was flat.

The one that is producing the burnt taste is most likely faulty and is a low resistance coil. Kanger coils are a grab bag when it comes to ohms. What you really need is something like a MVP so that you can check the ohms of your coil and then adjust the voltage accordingly.

I agree with this except for one thing. . . I don't think it's a Kanger coil we're talking about (the original, that is).
