After using a PT2 for a week, my Aro tanks arrived. Compared to the PT2 there is a lot to like about the Aro, but this is all JMO, and YMMV. (Using this on a Vamo V3.)
The PT2 hits great but it had a nasty metallic taste that even washing with Dawn and vinegar was hard pressed to remove. Finally after 30ml or so of juice that's mostly gone, but ...
...my biggest gripe with the PT2 is that I can't taste anything in it except the Captain Black N.E.T. I made. And even then, it's just the tobacco flavor I get. I added innumerable drops of TFA DIY vanilla cupcake directly to the PT2 tank and could not taste anything but the NET. I tried more power, less power...
Emptied the NET, washed the PT2 and made fresh VG/vanilla juice, and could not taste a thing. Again vaped up and down the power grid looking for more flavor. (2.0 ohm @ 7.5 - 8.5 watts, but dropped down as low as 5w and as high as 9.5w taking hits at each step.) Added 50% PG and more vanilla and still could not taste a thing. So added even more vanilla from another vendor (also DIY concentrated drops) and the vape actually started to burn my throat not because of the TH or watts, but because of all the food flavoring in it... and STILL I could not taste any vanilla! And it's the same with my DIY Jolly Ranger Grape juice. Tastes great in cartos on the cigalike, but cannot taste a thing in the PT2.
All to say, because of the flavors of juice I personally vape, the PT2 is only good for my NETs. And I will enjoy those in it, but not much else from the looks of it. I am hoping this changes when I re-wick with cotton, which I have yet to do.
What I love about the PT2, though, is 1) being able to take it completely apart to clean it, 2) using my own rubber drip tip, and 3) it is easy to fill. You can take off the base and direct drops from an eye dropper between the center air shaft threads. It also looks good on the Vamo.
Overall the PT2 is a very appealing device but falls way short (for me) in the flavor department. But again, cotton wicking might change all that.
The Aro, OTOH, has GREAT flavor compared to the PT2! Been vaping my DIY vanilla/caramel/chocolate juice all day. It hits nice too, tighter than the PT2 [although both are still too airy for my liking and I have an air flow controller on the way]. But the immediate impression, is "YAY! Hits good and tastes great!" (I did wash it with hot water before using but did not use soap, and I detected no metal or other odd tastes.)
The tank on the Aro is big enough and it has a nice build quality. It is thinner than the Vamo so doesn't look quite as nice sitting on it as the PT2 and the windows don't line up with the face of the Vamo, for those who like symmetry.
The metal drip tip is not removable but is comfortable. However the biggest gripe I have with the Aro is that the air shaft is very much receded into the tank when you remove the base, so there is no way to fill the tank except via needle-tip bottle or syringe. That's a drag because it is very convenient to be able to just drip juice into a tank, like you can with the PT2.
So overall there are things to like and dislike about each of them. I am glad I have a PT2 because it's perfect for NETs. And I'm glad to have the Aros for my other juices. I do wish they came apart like the PT2.
The other huge advantage of the Aro is that it's cheap. It does require its own Aro heads though.
While both these clearos are nice, I hate to say I still feel a lack compared to cartos. When I hit a carto the vapor somehow feels like it has "body"... almost like smoke. Like it has heft and feel... Hits off clearos - even big fat monster hits - feel 'thin'. Like the quality of the vapor is not the same.
I hope (again) cotton wicking might make a difference because I really want to be satisfied with clearos. I stopped vaping b/c I got so tired of dealing with cartos on the cigalike... having to boil them when they got gunky or started tasting weird or hitting bad, etc. I don't want to start that over with a carto tank now. It's also too expensive buying cartos all the time. At least clearo heads can be rebuilt. Much more economic!
So I haven't exactly found Nirvana, but ...
