I have been vaping for 2 months now. I started with a Mini Protank 2 and 2 Vision Spinners, then saw the Protank 3. Have had nothing but bad luck out of it. I thought that when the new coils came out it would be all good but no luck. I can not get a coil to last over one day and that is if I find one that will fire at all. I have my Spinner set to 4.2 and try to keep a fresh one on all the time.
My question is, should I go to a new tank or a something like the Vamo or SID or both? Or just start smoking again because this is so fustrating.

Ya finding your groove is tough, but once ya do the juice is worth the squeeze. Before there seemed to be so few choices now there are so many it is a blessing and a curse.

One of the easiest set ups I have is an MVP2 with a couple of iClear 16s. As for the Vamo or SID type thing I have been grooving with AnyVape Davide Glassomizer. The Protank stuff I have been moving away from as I find it starting to get confusing as they have different coils, types and set up. A couple of times I have bought the wrong replacement parts as in the the last year they seem to have like 4 types of tanks that are sorta the same but not.

Any conventions, shops or vape meets you could go to? Trying different things really helped me to figure out. Hubby is a simple vape guy, he wants something that is as easy as a cigarette and delivers the goods. He seems happy with the iTaste SVD and the AnyVape Davide or Carto tank set ups.

It sounds as if your center pin on the battery has been pushed in slightly and is not making contact. If it was it will need to be raised back up. Turn the unit off so it will not fire and use something small to wiggle it up just a bit. You really don't want to pull or tug it, could pop it out. Very light pressure. Usually just a nudge left and right is all that is needed, the 'up' kinda just happens unless it was really cranked down hard.

I overtightened my PT2 Mini on to a eGo-C and had the same issue. Perhaps you did it without realizing it? I did and once I worked the pin up all was well.

Senile Old Man Don

Addendum (WHY do I always do THIS?!): I too "...thought that when the new coils came out it would be all good...". Then a member turned me on to the potential battery issue and it worked.

And another thought!:

Swapping "tanks" seems to be the universal fix suggested for every problem ever presented here on ECF. In many cases a GOOD idea. Yet, I had as do you, money invested in a set of GOOD tanks, used by many, ripped apart by others. Switching was to me tossing good money up trying to be "done" with problems. In most every case - the "recommended replacement" tank also had thread after thread of folks who had "problems" with any given tank. SOLUTIONS were available for virtually any issue that was discussed. I figured if I had to spend time "fixin' it" - no matter the problem - I might as well save the money and "fix" what I had already purchased. I saw no reason to have a desk or drawers full of various tanks - all of which had one issue or another. I fixed the issue with the PT and have been happy with it; I DO have others - in particular the Kanger T3S and it has been FINE - aside from the dumb "measurement lines" on the tank. I never saw why they were there and it would "look" so much better without them; now - I believe SUN VAPORS has the tank minus "lines".

In any event - maybe once you get the PT running as YOU LIKE IT - not as others say it "should run" - you'll find it does all you want and a replacement is just "spending money"? Perhaps not. You may just want a new "rig" and for that there is but one solution ...... "buy it". Then as problems arise - fix 'em. It seems like a circle that can't be avoided.

Whew! This turned into me rambling AGAIN. Sorry about that - it just happens.

Ok when the coils do fire - what is happening to indicate the coils are in need of replacement? What liquid are you using? Is it dark in color? PG/VG ratio?

When they are not firing - E-Cigarette Forum - CreepyLady - Blogs

If those tanks are that much of a problem - go a different tank route - it doesnt seem that your batteries are the deal breakers here. Try evods, iclear series, carto tanks - anything else that strikes your fancy. Also - if the pt mini 2s were suiting you - go back to them! :) Hope this helps!

Glenn all the above. I got a 5 pack of the old style and only 2 of them would fire. I read that Kanger was changing them so I wated to fine them, got a pack of 5 in Monday and 2 of them did not fire and I am on my last one. When it works it works realy good love the flavor and the vape it gives me.

I don't have any personal experience with a PT3, but PT2 heads have a reputation for being all over the map in terms of quality. On my Davide (which used PT heads), some boxes of replacements barely last a week, while others have a more realistic lifespan.

One thing I've found -- and this might be totally useless for what you're experiencing -- is sometimes it seems like a coil has pretty much bought the farm, but 30 minutes and a few vapes later, it seems fine again. So I've made a habit of not tossing coils until I absolutely know that they're dead.

Upgrading from a Spinner to an APV (like a Vamo or Sid) can definitely improve your vape experience, but it won't have any effect in terms of coils lasting longer.

When you were using the PT2, were you getting longer coil life? One thing about the PT2, if you're mechanically skilled, it's not all that hard to rebuild coils.

Voltage too high... pt3 comes with 2ohms... I set the voltage at 3.8 and it works fine.. one tank, a month old, never had to change the coil yet (using light juice).. dark in other hand.. had to clean at least one a week).

Also.. just noticed it the other day.. check the top coil.. if its touching the side of the head.. if it does.. the ohms will be different.

I think if you get the right base you can use the usual protank coil on the protank3 instead of using the new coil; I wonder if the mini protank base would fit on it?

I have 2 Spinners it the same with both. They work really well with my Mini Protank 2 but the taste and vapor is just not their.
I was looking at the AnyVape Davide looks really good, but how will it work with the Spinners because it is a dull coil also.

It's all in the coil.
