First, I'm no expert. In fact, I'm a self confessed noob. Some of you may have read my previous threads on the Protank. Here is where I'm with them now. I had ordered three. The first I tried last weekend. It had a strong metallic funky taste. Many suggested that I wash it and let it soak; so I did. I refilled it, and the taste remained. I continued reading the post (new member's forum) and someone else complained about the funky metallic taste. He said he changed the fluid and the taste was gone. It was the juice. Low and behold, I changed fluid, Vape4life traditional menthol, Then my Protank tasted normal too! Next day, I let the second tank soak, filled it up with cinimmon flavor (which works good in my Zeus) This time the metallic taste returned. ......, because I bought these for this reason. Then the person in the house who knows everything (my wife) had a suggestion. First, she is a dental hygenist with over twenty years experience. She told me that I have a lot of old filling in my mouth. These fillings had more of a metal composition than the newer composite materials. She stated that the interaction with my fillings, salvia and ejuice could very well create a "nasty" reaction; therefore giving me the metallic taste in my mouth. The one who knows everything is probaly right. I changed to a non acidic juice and all was fine. Today I got in the air controllers that someone had suggested; THE AIRY FLOW HAS GONE! Overall, I'm pleased, but as others have suggested these should have worked right out of the box. The ability to change the drip tip would also negate metal interactions. Overall, I'm satisfied. However, I now have a question? At what point should style take precedence over function? Sure it looks good, but did I tell you how good the Iclear 16s smoke?

The dental filling material info is awesome.
I agree with your wife completely,
You may really consider to remove them not just for the Kanger problem, but it is compromising other aspects of your tasting.
Any food that contain acid ingredient will have a different taste if there is metal on you teeth.
Let alone the mercury content of a metal filling.
Cheers

I agree with remove the fillings. I know unpleasant and a bit costly to have done but, with the taste and health concerns, worth doing. Of course there are some of us that are just very sensitive to metalic tastes and, we just have to find a work around that works for us. (like me, I have to rewick new protanks with my cotton and, I have to home can my tomatoes in glass jars since the ones at the store come in metal cans and, I can taste the metal in the tomatoes.
