I've recently started vaping clearomizers and I love them. I started with a T3S which is still going strong a week and a half later. This with a 1.8 ohm atomizer inside it. So I went to the vape store and the guy there recommended a Protank II. Picked that up and got the same kind of vapor out of a 1.8 ohm atomizer inside that. However three hours later it just stopped working right. it was getting all flooded.

I clean it out and figured out not to screw it down all the way. I don't know why that is. Vaped decent again, but still not hitting like it did in the beginning or like the T3S was hitting.

By the third day I'm hardly getting any vapor and decided to switch out the atomizer to the other higher resistence atty that was included. Same kind of deal. Hits alright in the beginning but within a few hours it just is not as good as the T3S.

What is up with this thing? Shouldn't this thing be as good if not better than the T3S?

I use the Protank II exclusively (Both the standard and the Mini) For me it is the best tank I have found. I use the 2.4 coil at 4 volts for most juices.

When I load a new coil, I pull one of the 2 flavor wicks out. I also clean and dry fire the coil after 4 to 6 refills. I get about 3 to 4 weeks out of the coils this way.

After cleaning and dry firing the coils, I do have a burnt taste for a couple of vapes but it quickly goes away and tastes just like I put a fresh coil on.

Hope that helps

Sounds like an airflow issue. Too little airflow will cause flooding. So can horking on it like you're sucking a golf ball through a hose. :D

A lot of people seem to have issues with the Protanks. I have two minis and a PT 2. the only time I have flooding issues like you are describing is when I get liquid in the center tube... Also, one time I "primed" a new wick too much and pulled liquid into the tube.

A sufficient lack of airflow will cause you to do what I did when I was priming the new wick, pull too much liquid and end up with a bunch in the tube that needs to be emptied out. I usually resolve this by tipping the tank upside down for a minute and then doing a couple inhales with the tank still upside down, usually resolves the problem.

As a side note, I run my tanks dry with no issues. I think part of the problem is the "way" some people vape. I know a guy here at work that still smokes because the e-cigs don't work for him, he sucks on those things hard to enough to dislodge teeth and the filters look like they fell in on themselves when he is done. So. yeah, if changing your vaping style isn't in the cards, then these tanks may not be for you.

No way I'm going back to cartotanks. The T3S performs so much better than any carto I ever used and is way simpler to fill and replace.
But the Protank II is definitely not performing as it should and I can't figure out how to fix the airflow issue with it. I've cleaned it out and blown it out multiple times with both coils and it's stil not performing as well as the T3S.

Just out of curiousity, do the replacement coils for Kanger tanks work with Smoktech clearomizers and vice versa?

I know the protank heads will not fit a smoktech aro and vice versa so i would hazard a guess that the rest wont either.

Have you tried the T3s coils in the Protank (honestly don't know if there is even a difference other than labeling)? I also find that after I rewick with cotton yarn I get less flooding, and in fact my wicks last longer in my Mini Protank (original and V2) for some reason, maybe airflow. I like the t3s's too, but flavor seems off sometimes to me.

Anyway I use t3s and protanks exclusively BECAUSE the coils are interchangeable.

I have the same experience as you with my T3s and PT2. I just dealt with the PT2 issues because I like the tighter draw from it. But the simple answer to my problem was to get an Aspire BDC. Has the same tight draw as the PT2 with the same ease of use as the T3s. More flavor than the Kanger's as well.

For $10 - $12 I don't see why anyone wouldn't try one. I was so impressed when I tried mine yesterday I ordered 2 more.

1. Check to make sure all the seals are in place
2. Replace the 2 wicks with cotton
3. Remove the "cup" seal on the stem and replace it upside down on the stem
4. Use Kangertech replacement coils
5. Prime your head with a few drops of juice before you vape or take a few sucks off it without power to pull the juice into the wick
6. Switching the tank from one power source to another throughout the day can loosen the coils, make sure their seated snug on the base.

I'm running 2.2 ohm coils at 6.5-7 watts or 3.3-3.6 volts with an iTaste 134 and MVP.

Having Protank 2, a mini and a T3S and also a Kayfun 3.1 I will say that I personally have to vape each one differently. A lot of different things make a difference I believe. Juice, pg vs vg, resistance, etc. I've learned to vape the clearos to get just about the maximum vape I can from them but it's much different than the Kayfun.

Vape on!!

I'm a newbie so I can't speak from too much experience however I have 6 T3S tanks (I live flavors, what can I say?) and bought a PT2 over the weekend just because. I like the look and the performance is on par with the T3Ss but, for me, the top-heaviness of the kit sends me back to using my T3Ss more often.

Maybe once I get more experience I will have something different to say.

... to C.I.G. above my PT2 flows better than my clearimizers with the 'stock' coil, but the difference is marginal.

It's like you read my mind.... Same ohm coils and same volt range. :vapor:
