I have a K100 with a protank topper. I have Halo's Tribecca in one of my protanks, and Mt Baker Vapor's DIY Blueberry Coconut in another. The Blueberry coconut tastes fine, but the Tribecca tastes burnt. Any ideas why or how I can remedy this?

All I can tell you is that you're not the only one. Hate to say it, but I'm glad I'm not the only one too. That means we aren't crazy. lol

I've had issues with that too, and IMO there are two things that could cause that.

1. what's happening is you're getting too much power to the coil compared to how much juice you're getting, remove a flavor wick or possibly rebuild or change the coil and it should be ok.

2. some juices seem to burn off weird at either too high or too low (cooks instead of vaporizes) a temp

when I use a protank, I use a chinese knockoff of the kick, so I can get regular, reliable power to it. Especially helpful because I rebuild most of my protanks with a 1.4-1.8 microcoil. I only run unregulated when I want to play around with sub-ohm and then, only in an RBA/rda

Well, that's good (that we're not the only ones) but sorry you are dealing with it too! Same with you with that specific juice, or the protank in general?

Click on my name or however you can see my post history and check out my fun rant I posted a while ago. I understand why people would assume it's the usual culprits, but I'm positive it's the protank. Check it out and best of luck to you!! :)

I am done with the protank. PuriTank is the way to go. I have tried 5 full tanks worth e liquid from a friend and that tank is the best tank I have ever had. No metallic taste, no burnt taste, the draw is tighter even though I am using the same ProTank coil.

Now the ProTank 2 is coming out and so is the ProTank mini. The protank 2 sounds promising but why even buy it when PuriTank works perfect. Only advantage of the Protank 2 is that it makes it easier to clean by being able to remove the glass cylinder. Also the PuriTank has less holes at the bottom of the bass which is why the air draw is nice. No modding needed for the PuriTank.

By the way, from what I heard, they are in development of a Mini PuriTank. Lots of good things coming out this year. Love all the options.

I have just started having this problem and I think i have it figured out.
My PT was left on the side for a week while it was being cleaned, and I had it filled this morning with a new eJuice I am trying.
I am getting more of a rust flavor more than burnt and I think it is the metal oxidizing slowly.

Does anyone this this is a possibility?

Hrm, I wouldn't think so. I'm not sure if the chrome plating can rust. If the plating has been scraped off inside, then maybe. You would probably be able to see it though. I just looked at mine earlier and confirmed what my problem was, the glue. The excess glue on the inside is hard to see because it's clear, but there was a spot that was clearly yellowed (burned). I'm going to eventually heat the whole thing up, remove all the glue, and use another adhesive. For now I give up on it though. I'm hoping basic atomizers can get me back off the nasties.

I've had some luck with rewicking the replacement heads. If you pull out the factory wicks and replace it with a twist of cotton the flavor seems to improve quite a bit and I haven't had any of the metal taste either. I saw a link in another forum that detailed the whole process, but can't remember for the life of me where it was. It is pretty easy to do though.
