So I'm going to get a few Protank Mini II's when they come out and I want to pair them with an eGo style VV battery and I have no idea which one to get. I've been looking around on the forums and can't seem to find a clear winner. What should I get??? Also, how does a regular eGo stick battery hold up with the Protanks? Does Kanger make a VV? This newbie needs help!

The Spinner has gotten good reviews due to the ease of use (readability of settings). The Ego V2 mega gets panned for having an issue with battery life (blue LCD screen drain). The Twist was returned by me because the numbers were so darn small, it was also having issues charging which were unique to that individual unit.

Really like my iTaste VV/VW v3. Only 800 mah but suits me fine. Sorry, I guess that's just one more device in the mix.

There's really not much difference, but I prefer the Ego-C to the Twist, just based on my experience with a small sample size (2 twists stopped functioning within 6 weeks, and both Ego-C's are still going strong). I do have a couple of winders on order, but can't really comment on them yet since I don't have them. I've heard good things about them though and I like the fact that the 1300's have a shorter form factor.

Thanks for the advice so far! I've heard that the eGo Twists aren't as good as the Winders or the Spinners. I think I'm leaning towards a Spinner, but I'd love some more advice from all you VV/VW folks. I'm a noob, so I have little experience. I'm going for the Protank mini because I like the size, good reviews, and that it won't crack under pressure (ha ha ha). Any additional thoughts out there? Should I skip the VV and just go for an eVod? AAAAAAAHHHHH! My head asplode!

Unless you need 1100-1300mAh... ghola has provided what I consider to be the ultimate "stick battery" on the market... RubyRoo.
It is unique unto itself as the only self-contained, VV-VW, "stick form", mod on the market... and at only $35 from iVapes, you'd be missing out by not owning at least one.
The 800mAh is the only trade-off... size and convenience vs. usable vaping time, but as it is a pass-through, I find that to be the most minor if concerns.

When you consider what a variable voltage batt is used for - finding the 'sweet spot' for a flavor plus vapor - then I think the criticism of seeing the exact voltage marks is overrated - looking from the bottom of a Joye eGo-c Twist, you dial clockwise to increase voltage and dial counter-clockwise to reduce voltage.

If you're sampling, then you'l be dialing up or down a lot. But if you have an 'all day vape'/favorite flavor, then the dial is going to stay at the point you find best gets you the flavor and vapor that you want. Many with 'VV batts' never change the dial after they find what they need. ;)

The true Joye eGo-C Twist has been the most durable and has the best short and charge protection on the market. The knock offs eGo VV can vary from DOA to 'I've been really lucky with ....' You get what you pay for. I have mostly Joye eGo-c's and one Vision VV. The most notable difference for me is that the cutoff for the Joye eGo-c is about 13 seconds and the Vision (and this can vary from batt to batt) is about 6 to 7 seconds and with my vape style that interferes with my vaping. I haven't had any problems with the Vision except for that.

I've had Joye eGo-c's that lasted over a year. The only thing with the Joye eGo's is that they are susceptible to some really low resistance atomizers/coils. Anything less that 1.7 ohms can cause shorts. But with a VV batt that shouldn't be a problem since you can set the voltage to keep the wattage under 10-11 watts.

If you go with the Joye, then find a verified Joye vendor - cignot, heaven gifts, rocky mountain vapors, litecig, liberty flights, ecigbestsave, myvaporstore, sun vapors and others....

Joyetech eGo Twists and Vision Spinners are pretty much the same. The Spinner is a tiny bit shorter and fatter, but the specs are the same. I have 2 Twists and have had them for almost a year without any problems, but the Spinner has some advantages. The authentic ones (I highly recommend authentic batteries) are available in more mAh sizes, more colors, but most importantly the numbers are easier to see:

I've been very happy with my Twists, but other people have been just as happy with their Spinners. I think it's 6 of one, half dozen of the other.

Ruby, If you want to check out the ego twist let me know. When the J Vapes opens here it looks like they will carry the Smoktech Winders. I have four ego twists I rotate in pairs everyday for my work carry so I'm not lugging a mod around, and they have seen some drops and dings and work fine. I will say I am ordering a pair of itaste vv v3s to replace them though, will be pairing with a davide mini since it has a slightly larger capacity than the pro tank mini.

My wife on the other hand wants the vision spinner in the "pretty purple", so I've been looking into those recently to see if there's any glaring issues and haven't seen any more than any other ego type battery.

Hey everybody! Thanks so much for all the advice! I went with the Smoktech Winder from a B&M in Boulder called, Boulder Vapor House. They carried the Winders and I tried them out at their e-juice flavor bar and just fell in love. Went with a super rad stainless version and paired it with a couple of iClear tanks that have been performing so well. Planning on ordering some Protank minis soon but I'm really enjoying my upgrade. BIG THUMBS UP to Boulder Vapor house. Friendly folks with a great selection of hardware and juices. More of that on the Colorado Vapor page. Love the VV and the price was only $23 at a B&M! Support your local vape shops if you can!

Been using Protanks with regular EGO and Vision Spinner for a while now, got much better vapor on both batteries by going to the lower resistance heads (FYI only use the official Kanger stuff, it will be micro engraved with the resistance on the side near the positive contact)

As far as batteries, go, in real life, got a mechanical mod from a forum buddy yesterday , and I think that is superior. (Thanks OMO) I think that is going to become my go to......

Anyhow I believe the really good way to run a protank is with a re-built head, but that is a learning experience and I still have issues with flooding on an almost empty tank.

(air heats up and expands, the more air the more expansion........ mostly empty tank = lotsa air) Should not have that with mini....

As far as VV or VW goes, I jsut ordered on of these:

https://www.fasttech.com/products/1411/10004394/1395002

Costs about the same as two spinners, comes with 2 batteries (which take up much less pocket room per each) charger and you can toss or PIF the atomizers.

My point here is you get a much much more effective way of controlling your heat using wattage settings (you can change your atomizer and get the same coil heat regardless of manufacturing differences) for around the same price as 2 spinners and if using the single, short batteries it is probably much shorter than the spinners. Think pocket space, a protank on a 1300mah spinner likes to fall out of my t-shirt pocket...

And battery replacement is around $5 per each vs the cost of replacing your spinner in a year or less...... I admit you need 4 18350s to do the duty of a 1300mah spinner, but again it fits my pocket much better, much less my hand, and stands up on my table without falling over.....

I am a big fan of the GENUINE Joyetech twists.

If you are a gal, nobody makes a prettier batt than that pink pearlized one.......it really is pearly. I have never seen that color or that finish on any ego type batt.

And yes, I have found a difference between the genuine joyetechs and the clones, so ........

I know people like spinners, they are shorter/fatter and also dial easier to read, I never *read* the dial anyway, I just turn the knob til the vape tastes right, really don't CARE what the reading is. :)

Maybe I am a cynic, but these 3 devices look so much alike, I would bet they are made by the same company.
Print 3 different brand names on them, 3 different knobs. Same internal components.
Sort of like how Ford/ Mercury / Lincoln is with putting 3 different names on essentially the exact same vehicle. They just look a little bit different.

I have 2 ego Twist 900 Mah and a Vision Spinner 1300 mah.

All in all, I think I like the Vision Spinner better for only 2 reasons
1) as people mentioned already.. easy to twist and see your voltage
2) more colors :) *

* What I have is actually a Vision Spinner rebranded from altsmoke and it is RAINBOW.

otherwise, they're equally good to me. Spinner has the slight edge though.
