This will depend on e-liquid formulation, amount of vaping done(Tanks per day/week)
Your ability to properly maintain the wicks. Good rinse and learn to dry burn.
People get from a few days to several weeks.
I average 3-4 weeks on a coil, with regular cleaning, before I do something silly and break a coil.

I'm in search of finding out how often protank coils need to be replaced? Thanks!
It really depends on use and the type of juice you are using. Thicker juice like 100% VG is going to clog the wicks faster do to its thicker viscosity. Which will mean you will have to replace or clean the coil head sooner

A lot of people on here are replacing theirs every 4-7 days from reading around. What a lot of people doing are just cleaning it out and giving it a dry burn and then replacing it with another "recycled" coil head. I just replaced my first coil after a week, but I replaced it for a different resistance coil head

That's what I needed thanks. I replaced one 100% VG coil after 2 weeks but didnt' know if that's normal. It was a dark colored liquid which I guess clogged it quicker. I'm "new" and really don't have the time or know to try to clean it although I wish I did! It just seemed easier to ditch it and put a new one in which fixed my dilemma but didn't know if that's normal. I have "clear" liquids that are going on a month of not everyday vaping. Just thought strange but I guess that's normal!

Hi, next time you replace a 'coil' - when you unscrew the base and the coil is in there
BEFORE you take the coil out of base,
use the base as a holder and pull that chimney stem (with wht rubber cup on it) off

you can do it by hand, but a pair of pliers make it way easy ! your not planning on using it anyway so take one apart and look/learn how their built...

also when you unscrew a coil, just briskly rinse it off with HOT water and let it dry till next time you need one
maybe it's clean enuff to work (until you learn how to deep clean them) :D

Good Luck

The problems with my PTII started after using a high VG juice. My friend told me its straight VG but his son makes it so im not really sure. Its noticeably thicker than what i get at the local B&M which never gave me a problem. 50/50 worked just fine. Leaking being the main issue im having atm with the PTII. Its hard to imagine a thicker juice makes it leak and gurgle. You would think a higher PG juice would be more likely to leak.

ATM im assuming its user error on my part until i can prove otherwise.

I started with 4 coils about 3 months ago.... Have two left with regular cleaning and dry burning.

I popped one coil the other day when I wasn't paying attention while dry burning. They can be rebuilt, but my close up vision sucks now at my age and prefer to just buy new coils. I would need great reading glasses to do this, just don't have the patience. Every second tank I wash the tank and coil and dry burn. If you're careful you could get a couple of months out of one coil.

I'm not sure if someone helped you on this but I had the same problem. I changed out the coil and it fixes it right up. Ive heard that Due to poor quality control there are a quite a few defective units that came out of the factory

Really seems variable, I always see the response of "about a week" intermingled with "about a month"

About a week with no cleaning, about a month with regular cleans / dry burns

I guess you just know based on the quality of hit you are getting?

Pretty much. When the vapor production goes down and the flavor is lessened, it's time to change or clean the coil head.

Saying that, every 2-4 tanks I just rinse mine under the hot water faucet regardless if I am getting less vapor or flavor - I also give the tank a rinse too, maybe a wipe with a q-tip. Every few days I'll do a dry burn to get the gunk off the coils. It actually takes longer to type out how to do a dry burn than it does to do one.*

With a little TLC, coil heads can last weeks and weeks - even vaping a 100% VG juice.

*Dry Burn

Rinse coil head in hot water, shake and blot dry with paper towel (make sure the connection that you screw into the battery is completely dry)
Screw the coil head back in to the battery with no tank attached.

Pulse the fire button on your battery for 2-3 seconds while gently blowing down the tube on top of the coil head. If you are using a top coil device like a CE5 or a Vivi nova, remove the top silicone cap first and blow on to the coil directly.

Keep doing this, you will see wisps of white smoke.

The coil will glow red and evenly when it is clean.

Make sure you rinse the coil in hot running water before a final dry and reinstall. This gets rid of any gunk you have burnt off.

I believe this is the main reason. The likelihood of receiving a defective Protank (l) is almost 50/50 (do not seriously take this statistic plus I'm not sure about the Protank (ll) since it recently came out). I've read countless opinions on people either loving or absolutely hating them. Majority of those whom disliked it were because of the leaking/gurgling issues. It's hard to believe that most of them were users being at fault for not properly assembling it. To me, it seems you have to be lucky on getting a properly functioning one. I had the Protank l and currently have the Protank ll. The first one had it's problems with few gurgles and leaks here and there. But I dropped it in the parking lot and it shattered. Was doubting myself in getting the ll, but I decided to give it another try. Fortunately, the second one is flawless.

KangerTech seems to be rushing their products without having good consistency. For example, the Mini Protank ll was supposed to have a removable drip tip. It seems they manufactured so many Mini Protank l tops that they decided to make more money on the Mini Protank ll by only changing it to be able to disassemble. This is just my opinion and what I take from my observations.

Thanks for the Dry Burn Instructions! May I ask, on the Vivi Nova, how you would replace the coil or wick? How do you pop out the coil so I can try out my own wrap on it?
