As far as inconsistent coils go, I had a guy at a local B&M tell me he sells non-Kanger replacements because they are better/more consistent than the Kangers. YMMV

The best part of the protank 2 is the drip tip. When I bought mine and took it apart before use I found lots of metal shards under and above the bottom o-ring. I would not want to inhale these into my lungs. Kanger's quality control is horrible, the coils are very inconsistent as mentioned before and the quality of silica they use is cheap. I will not purchase another kanger tank . I get so much more flavor out of my Aspire glassomizer BDC and IGo-l RDA. I'm going to rebuild the pro tank 2 to see if it makes a difference, if that doesn't work it's off to the landfill or swap meet.
I think I may try some of the non-Kanger replacement heads, Ive also heard that this may help a little bit. The only leakage Ive had was when I overtightened my head into the bottom base, and got leakage from the center lol.
Not a hater or full of ire. I like my original Protank and my mini PT v2's for what I bought them for--tank cracker juices. My original has experienced every problem the haters have mentioned and it was user error on my part except for the bad out of the box coils. My favorite clearos are my EVODs so the Protanks are the best option for tank crackers since I don't have to keep my coils separated.

My only complaint about the Protanks is the weight. The minis are tolerably heavy but the big boys are not easy to control on a longer ego if you're a hand talker--lol! They do make it appear more like a scepter or fairy wand if that's what you're into, though.
My ultimate tank would be a top filling glass EVOD with a removable 510 drip tip but a thin glass in a metal or plastic sleeve--not pyrex. I love how easy it is to fill & see the liquid in the iClear 16 but it is a juice monster & I don't like the warmer vape. It gets a little too warm, too close to my lips when chain vaping.

Protanks ate great, the only reason I moved on its because I can't do the slow pull. But when I did use them it was great, until the igo-l 3/32 vent with 1.2 ohm micro coil. But kanger is a great company and great products
I like the protank line, I like the Evod line. I did not like the iClear 16, tried to make them work for me for a few weeks, my iClear 30 leaked right off the bat, returned and the iClear 30 replacement leaked in the store when filled, traded in on another Protank 2. I like the Protank 3 and Aero.
I really just use them for "busy vaping" but even that is getting taken over by my R91 attys

A protank is a protank. Nothing extra special, and not the worst to pick, but hey, it is what it is a beginners tank, that when filled and screwed on properly, and used within it's limitation, it will produce vape, Not big luscious clouds of tasty vape, just meager muted flavored vape. It works, nothing to write home about, nothing to brag about. It's a protank. A very small tank with limited range of attributes. I am one that used to think they were wonderful, but quickly learned what they weren't. They weren't the ultimate in vape, they weren't a fantastic atomizer, they weren't anything special unless compared to a generic plastic run of the mill clearomizer that comes with your basic run generic cheap ego like style battery, then yeah, in that respect they are vape giants. But compared to a quality rba or even the Aspire Nautilus, the PT doesn't ever rate honorable mentions. Maybe a do your remember when thought, but that's it. A POS by any other name. The only thing it has going for it is a glass tank and a replaceable coil. Heck you can get the flashi clone for $22.45 and have a respectable atomizer that really truly is one of the great ones. The only good thing I can say about the PT is that it got me off cigarettes, and that they make a decent PIF gift for a newbie vaper. Also if you paint them up they make a great Christmas tree ornaments.

I have a new found love for Kanger PTs, its all becouse of the Aero Tank and its base. Tried the base on my PT2 and it breathes and has flavor.
protanks are great I love the kanger pro 2 the trick is to rebuild your wick because the one it comes with is crap and you can make it any ohm. also the surric R.A.T. tank is freakin awesome. it uses the protank coil and it is a 6ml glass tank aluminum body I love it!
Thanks for the helpful post. We need more of these clear and constructive statements from experts like you. New comers in this New Members forum definitely need the realization that sub ohms vaping is only way to vape.
Opinions are the great thing about a diverse people, but like everything, they are the view of an individual with different tastes. One may like lemons, another may like limes. Just because one is happy with limes doesn't mean that the lemon lovers have to try and squash their happiness. I for one, like my Protanks...Haven't really tried a top feeder, but hey, its a money thing. I find what works, and use it until I decide to try something new. I like the looks and simplicity of the Protank as well, and the fact that you can rebuild the coils. Im sure next time i go to my vape store I'll find a new tank to try, or maybe i'll just get some more input from the owner...Who knows. Opinions are what make the world great
I am recoiling my protanks 1&2 with cotton at about 1.5ohm. I get great vape from such simple coils!! Rsst/Cobra genesis arent that good most of the time... Still waiting for kayfun 3.1. I bet its gonna be a whole new level of vaping experience.

Love the PT2 and mini PT2! Actually my mini's get a lot more daily use just due to my daily commute. TBH the ONLY reason I've invested in Protanks at all is after watching Rip Tripper's micro/nano coil builds on YouTube...simply awesome. Now, I just rip everything out from the start and build my own...in my opinion really the best way to get into rebuilding as a start, if you screw up just try again or put in a stock head.

I had some problem with the Protank 3 and airflow. However on a Sigelei V5 there is a gap which allows for a much better draw. So I guess it depends a lot on what APV you use.
For a totally un-mechanical person, could you please explain how to take the "cup" head off the "gasket" and turn it around? Thank you, lol!!
I have been vaping since the joy 510 with a cartridge and a little sponge was the best you could get. Then on to carto's, then carto tanks, then Vivi novas and every tank in between. Now I use 2 protank 2's to mini protank 2's. Tomorrow my aerotank will arrive and two extra aero bases to use with my other protanks. I love protanks and in a year or maybe a little more I have had two bad coils. Never had to mod any at all. Use, rinse in extremely hot water, dry burn, rinse again. Allow to dry and use again. I love them and can't wait to get the aero going. But remember, we all prefer different thing and vape differently. So what works for one will suck for another.

No you take the cup gasket (the white plastic boot that fits around the stem on your head) and you turn it so that the "cup" or concave side is facing up instead of down.
