Protected or Unprotected

I hope to receive my V2 tomorrow and as I have herd about unprotected batteries I think they are a bad idea from what I have read. I went back and read about the V2 and the batteries that are comming with it. No wear did I read if they are protected or not??? I guess I thought that the supplyer would not sell a unit with unprotected batteries but how would I know. I think that CaSH should state if the batteries are protected or not. I do not know batteries well enough to know by there numbers.

No, LiFePO4 batteries are not "protected" in the conventional sense, but they are "safer" chemistry for whatever that's worth to you. With responsible use, all batteries used in the PS products will serve you well.

i have seen lifepo4 shot at and short circuited, they did not catch fire or explode, they do leak and get hot though.
Lifepo4 is safer than normal protected lithiums, normal protected lithiums have thin insulation and if it wears off, the battery can short circuit.

the fire was probably the unprotected batts. lol

If a battery does NOT read on the battery itself that it is "protected", is it a good idea to use it???? What is the difference between the "protected" and "UNProtected" batteries"???? I mean the answer is obvious, but....why would anyone send batteries that do NOT say "protected" on it. I have heard things about "unprotected batteries" and that is the only reason why I am asking. It kinda scares me , yikes .

How long do you charge "unprotected batteries" for???? Is it safe or wise to leave them plugged in overnite????

What type of batteries are they and what device are you using?

I ask, because unprotected non stacked batteries are not dangerous by any stretch of the imagination. Where protection comes in handy and is safer, is when they are stacked within a mod.

I have the Protected and the unprotected Trustfire batteries. The 3.7 mod, uses one battery (unprotected)at a time. The 5V mod uses 2, side by side (protected)
