Hmmm...Is this just the auto-detection of the type of metal? Like the difference between Ti and SS? I remember that feature would give a different color light for the type of metal.

Getting rid of notifications would mean doing another round of removing code, retesting, adding code, retesting. Can you wait another 4 months for that? If it takes that long its useless AB. It will only take a few days
There's also a big elephant in the room that no one is talking about anymore -- from a IP legal perspective, VIR and Proteus need to be released. Delays and feature chasing could have some very serious consequences on the marketability of the features that work.

I am hopeful I will love VIR but there's a big chance some will not. No micro coils, no VW, no kanthal, different vape technique, etc could turn people off who are set in their ways. kanthal is just a wire, so nothing special. Microcoil is a regular coil with not so close threads, so nothing special too. VW is totally useless if you have Temp function (you raise temp, so its like you raise watt but without the danger of burn taste). Also there is no difference in vaping technique
I think this will be a game changer for those of us who want a safer vapor. But there are many more folks who just don't care -- and there are competitors in the market who might try to shut down an amazing step forward. agree
Proteus will be released with VIR V1. I'll be one of the first. I can afford $250 to be one of the first even if the tech changes later. I wasted $7000 a year on analogs. Some day I'll likely say I wasted $1500 a year on old kanthal equipment.
We've been waiting on VIR for what? At least 2 yrs? Imeo you keep saying a few day or next wk, and now your saying back to the drawing board? I'm losing faith but holding onto hope that this will actually hit the market this yr... I'll check back in 4 months and keep on trucking with my DNA 40 that is working awesome. That's why I want the Proteus -- all I care about is temperature control, and not just temperature limiting.
A proper temperature control device will reduce temperature as e-liquid fails to wick, and also prevent wasted energy released from the battery.
I don't need an OLED display. I don't care about knowing what resistance my coil is (resistance changes anyway based on joules). I don't want to use kanthal anymore, but I don't trust Ti in a VW or VV regulated mod (and even less trustworthy in a mech unregulated).
The only feature I would love, and I wouldn't expect it to ever happen, would be for the LED light to display for the first second of vaping with a color that correlates to remaining battery power. So a fresh battery, the button would light for a second as green, a battery at 3.7 would light it as yellow, and a battery at 3.4 would light it as red. This is only because I like being ready to swap a battery before it runs out! But that is not a feature request of any kind, just an idea.

But it cant be done. The reason is that Temp control works different than VV-VW devices. What I mean is that even if battery is full but your atomizer is overflooded or very very saturated, the watts will go so high that battery will not be able to handle them. So a green led for battery at 4,2 volts will be useless because battery may go immediately to 3,4 volt with only one push![]()
While this excites me, I also know that people who committed to a position will either not pay on time (delaying everyone else), or will find another way to create a delay. I've bought in a bunch of pre-orders in the past, and I've seen OEMs get slaughtered because they can't go public and say "These specific people haven't paid, so they are holding everyone else up."
I like how Imeo is putting the pre-orders into the hands of the resellers rather than doing it all himself. We buy from resellers who all send their wholesale cost to Imeo who begins production. Less for him to juggle, and more parties to hold accountable.
I'm assuming you're new here because Imeo has made countless preorders throughout the years and from what I can recall there has never been a serious problem from his side.
Actually, it could technically be done with one catch: it would only show the voltage prior to energizing the coils.
Basically, upon VIR receiving the signal to fire, it goes and does its sampling (at 1000 times a second or whatever). The initial sample or samples (maybe 1, maybe 2 dozen, but only the initial ones) would read the battery BEFORE energizing the coils.
This battery reading would at least tell the user where the battery was before energizing. If the battery happens to drop in voltage due to flooding, it wouldn't matter for THIS read. The next energizing stage would show a lower battery reading before energizing the second press.
I don't know what LED unit you are using, but you could technically have "infinite" colors in the spectrum from greed to yellow to orange to red for the pre-energizing battery storage level. Again, not a feature request, just something I would love to have on ANY device I use. I hate LED readouts, they are far too time consuming to deal with. A colored LED reporting battery storage would be great just because I could read it peripherally.
