Anyone home? Is this thread still active. I have a question.

For a 2.5 w/ the P3 510 top - are nipple top batts still Ok to use?
Actually, the 2.5 uses ONLY nipple top batteries. Flat top won't work.

 on the multiple answers---all within 2 minutes.

As I understand it, using a nipple top battery was the first, and for a long time, the only workable method for reverse battery protection in regulated mods. It's part of the inside structure -- not a function of the chip -- and is true for V1, V2, and V2.5.

Thanks for all the answers folks. I have a bunch of 2.5 and P3's but a friend just order a 2.5 w/ the P3 top and wasn't sure about the batts. I'll pass on the info.
LOL, though I didn't answer your specific question, the posts answering it do answer your broader question if anyone was home!

Hi Coldgin,

It will not boost 3W, so 15W would be the highest setting where you can still use boost. :)

I just thought of this last night and figured I'd ask.

Am I correct in assuming if the Battery I.Q. is reading, "BAD" or "POOR", BOOST will NOT work if the P3 is set at 11W?

Happy Easter!

I see no one has answered you. I certainly don't know the answer. I suspect the vast majority of us wouldn't know. Maybe PBusardo and his testing equipment would know. It's an interesting question though and one I hope someone can offer an educated answer on.

I went digging and couldn't come up with the info I was looking for. I believe it was mentioned somewhere in the past about a correlation between boost and IQ. I'll dig around some more and hopefully find the post.

Gentlemen,

Since it is Easter, I really did not expect a answer right away. Thank you for taking the time in participating and providing me with the vaping camaraderie I so intensely crave.

I look forward to further research and conversation regarding this and other ProVaping subject matter.

Check the P3 manual, page 6, next to last paragraph. It kind of answers the question, @Vape360 could probably get us a more definitive answer from one of the Techs.

I would add...

● The IQTM (Input Quality) monitor provides feedback on the condition of your battery and connections. IQ monitors the battery installed in the device and alerts the user if there is a problem with the battery or the connections along the way. If you have a bad spring, this will cause the IQ value to drop. If you use a poor quality battery, your input quality value will drop. A safe range is anything above 61. If you find your battery is not showing higher than 61, replace the battery with a new high drain battery. These are available on the ProVape website if you do not have a local source for them. The IQ value will vary a little but generally if it’s 61 or above you are ok to use that battery. In addition to a value, the P3 will also tell you if the battery is great, good, ok, poor or bad. These readings are often caused by a weak connection, oxidation build-up where the spring is or a dirty contact pin. If you get a bad reading, try turning the spring a few times. This will remove oxidation build-up and you should get a better reading. This is a very sensitive and accurate reading so little changes can affect the value. Getting a low reading with a new battery does not mean you have a bad device. It just means you might have some adjustments to make on the spring or cleaning your contact pin. This numeric number is from 100 (best) to 0 (worst). If you get a IQ warning the best fix is to remove the bottom cap, wiggle the spring a little, and try reinstalling the bottom cap to see if that improves the IQ value. It's very normal for the IQ to bounce around. This is due to the IQ reading being a real-time monitor of the internal resistance. The IQ value mainly comes into play when you are vaping at above 15 watts. This is when we are most concerned about the quality of the connections to ensure the device is safe to use at the higher power levels.

1) Great (81 to 100 inclusive)
2) Good (72 to 80 inclusive)
3) OK (61 to 71 inclusive)
4) Poor (36 to 60 inclusive) - Power limited to 15 watts when your input quality is poor or bad 5) Bad (0 to 35 inclusive) - Power limited to 15 watts when your input quality is poor or bad

The question was asked roughly 13 hrs ago & that's around the same time Tapatalk notifications ceased working. I also didn't know the answer, but damn Tap...had notifications been working I could've at least replied I don't know!

They're still not working. Have to use the browser to see notifications.
