Hello,

I'm going to be traveling soon and was wondering if anyone had any issues bringing a Provari as a carry on. I don't want to have to toss it due to it not being allowed. I saw other threads that talk about the pen style 808's/510's. They had no issue. However the provari itself is a lot larger and has a removable battery. Has anyone taken a provari or similar size on a plane?

check the policies of the airline/airport you're travelling with. there will be mention of pvs in their policies, which is usually ok to carry on, not ok to use on the flight.
the batteries conform to what is allowed on the plane, and usually the ml capacity of your liquid bottles also conform to policies.
just have the appropriate items prepared in a clear ziploc bag so that it's easier for them to get you through.
i imagine that the pv can stay in the case if you want, but they may ask to see it as it turns up as a weird looking item when they're scanned through at customs.

I've traveled with multiple REOs, loads of batteries, and Egos many times. TSA seems to know what e-cigs are. Mostly they have never been flagged disassembled in my carry on. Last time I forgot and had an assembled mini with ejuice in it in my coat pocket and they pulled it out in the scanner. Once I said ecig got the knowing look and they scanned it again and moved on.

You just never know with TSA what will make them look twice. There is no rule against taking them, just that eliquids have to be in 1 qt bag. To be 100% safe on not losing it bring a self addressed envelope so worse case you can mail it to yourself if they won't let you take it on board.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to check the policies. I understand that you cannot vape on a plane. However, have you vaped in the Airport?

Thanks for the info! Glad to hear you we're able to travel with your mods. I guess the key is to have your batteries separate from the PV in another battery container and eliquid in a 1 quart ziplock bag. Hope this works and if not I'll take your advice and have a self addressed envelope handy.

unfortunately since i've picked up vaping i've only daydreamed about how it could alter my experiences in transit for the better.
i have heard some people report success in vaping at the airport. i would definitely give it a try and see if anyone bothers to stop you.
>.> i would totally vape in the bathroom though. usually i go to the washroom every 2 hours on long flights anyways since it's hard for me to remain glued to my chair for that long.

The bathroom stall sounds like an ideal spot. :)

Hardly ideal, but they do work in the airport and on the plane. Last year people were commenting on successfully vaping in airports with permission, but nothing recently. I haven't done it and use bathrooms or outside not wanting to attract attention and delay my travels in any way.

Twice I have vaped in my plane seat on a late night flight with a blanket (I miss you Continental) doing the exhale the vapor in a cup of coffee trick. I had the entire row and no one was paying attention to fellow travelers.

If you are traveling internationally the rules may be different.

Use a mostly PG ejuice with a mild pleasant common smell or lack of odor to not attract attention. Something menthol, minty, or fruity would work. VG vapor hangs in the air too long for stealth vaping.

Just passed through LAX and Dubai for a total of 2x each. Both times I had my provari in with my other liquids (shapoo and such) and in my carry on. I was not asked about it. I also had my VMod XL and that one was asked about just once (passing through Dubai) but when I explained what it was, and how it worked, they didn't make a big deal about it.

I took the DCT off my Provari and had it in the bag, maybe if it was all assembled, it would have drawn more attention, but no one said anything.

I fly about once twice a month with my either my Provari V1 or Provari Mini, or both. If I bring both, one gets checked inside my bathroom bag in the suitcase, luggage lock has never been opened. I usually have my Mini in my carry-on and I put it in the bin with my laptop/shoes/etc. in a carry case with the battery removed. About 30% of the time it will get a second look from the TSA guy at the x-ray monitors; I say "it's an e-cig", and they send me on my way. Three times they've taken it and swabbed it for evil residues, asked about it, then sent me on my way to reassemble myself. In short - it probably won't get taken, but be ready to spend an extra minute with the TSA (and maybe pack a back-up mod in case someone's having a real bad day).

I travelled via United from Houston to Las Vegas with my Provari, extra batteries, charger, 3 tanks, 2 bottles of e-juice, and 2 Ego-C twists in my carry on. I had the juice and a filled tank in a quart ziplock with my toothpaste. Went through security twice without a hitch. Nobody looked twice as my carry-on went through x-rays.

Today, I took it through Philadelphia International. I was unsure of my Provari Tank and wanted to see if I needed to check it. I took it to the TSA people before I checked my bag and got a thumbs up. I then checked my bag and went throught the checkpoint.

After passing through the "Total Recall" scanner, I waited to see if I was going to lose my Provari. I saw one of the officers holding it, then bring it over to another officer....then I got nervous. I walked over and told them what it was and they just stood there curious until I took a pull on it and puffed out vapor. The immediately began asking me questions about how it worked, how much it was and let me go saying "Man, I gotta get one of those things".

I gotta say, I keep putting it off, but I need to contact the folks at ProVape about being a salesperson....EVERYONE asks me why I'm smoking a portable butane torch.....lol

My .02, ask a TSA person before you check the bag. If nothing else, check it with a bag and wait it out. Good Luck.

The Provari has set off "concerns" with the TSA at two airports: Ft. Lauderdale and Newark. Let's face it... it's a big, stainless steel metal tube with a battery and circuitry. On an X-ray machine, it has to look strange sitting in your carry-on.

I've resorted to putting it in the plastic bins with my shoes and belt, so it's visible, and haven't had an issue since since it doesn't look like it's "hidden" in a carry-on.... they can inspect it at will.
