I have a standard Provari and 2 AW IMR 18490 High Drain batteries I use in rotation. I usually vape in the 5.5-6.5 watt (3.6-4.2 volt) range.

I would like to get a third battery and was wondering what people think about this battery for a Provari.

AW 18500 Li-Ion 1,500mAh

I like the Larger mAh without having to go to a Larger battery.

I know that the AW IMR High Drains are supposed to be Better because of their Lower Internal Resistance. I’m just not sure if I would see a big benefit of using them in the watt/volt range I use my Provari in.

Any thoughts?

It will work just fine, however that battery is protected, meaning that there is a PCB built in, increasing the battery length by a mm or 2. The result is that the cap won't thread all the way down.

I never thought of about that.

Doesn't seem right to put a battery in it where the cap won't screw down all the way.

I have another mod where I do just that. I just bought an O ring I slide on the threading to cover the gap so the cap is nice and tight. Works like a charm.

Now that is not a bad idea. Not a bad idea at all.

I love quick fixes that cost about 25 cents.

Thank StotheK

Just an update:

I went ahead and thought WTH, I'll buy the AW 18500 1500mAh battery and if it doesn't fit I'll try the O-Ring trick.

I got it today (Wow, 2 day delivery from Super T Manufaturing) and it fits fine. No O-Ring needed.

Thanks for your help guys.

This is good news! I want that battery for my provari too.
Now that you had it for a while, can you tell me if it causes any problem and works just like the 18490 but with longer battery life?
Thanks!

I have been wondering about battery options too, and have been eyeballing the larger mAh AW protected batts at Super T.

I've seen info here on the forums about the Provari Power 2500 battery option Provape has (had?) sometime last year, and saw some people mention they were getting quite a bit longer run time out of the PP2500 than they did with the 1600 mAh IMR type.

It also looks like Provape may not have the PP2500 batteries in stock.

By chance, does anyone have one of the newer AW IMR High Drain 2000's *and* a PP2500, to be able to compare runtime between them?

I believe what Provape's battery FAQ says about the Provari needing a battery that can dish out the amperage. Just wondering how I'd fare with those larger protected (non-IMR / high drain) AW batteries. SuperT has them right on up to 3100mAh.

But I don't know too much about what the Provari's actual amperage requirements are, or too many specs on AW's protected (non-IMR) batteries.

Thanks

what does everyone think about the new 2000 batteries. Are they that much better?

I got my new 2000 bats yesterday and am only getting 8 hours. I use dual coil cartos which may account for the low use time. The 1100 mAh batts only gave me about 6 hours. Am curious to see what people are getting using non dual coils.

I use SR boges on an AW IC 3100 mah at about 5 volts. I get about a day and a half of pretty heavy vaping. It's nice. That, coupled with a pila charger, it's only taking about 3-4 hours to recharge each battery. Great setup, I couldn't be happier.
