Mine looks very similar - but I carry in pocket all the time w/keys coins etc.

Its not really "scratched". He said you can't feel it like its starting from inside and coming out if that makes sense. I think I still have pics of it. Ill look and try to post them. He said it has never been in a pocket with keys or anything that it started shortly after he got it. Always left it standing on the end cap.. when not in use..

This is the first we have heard of the black finish doing this by itself. If you want to send it in we can take a look under the microscrope and see what's going on. Wish I would have purchased it now!! Makes me a lil more confident to order a black one now....
