i began my journey into cloudland with an itaste SVD that lasted a week before i had to send it back.
i realised i'd rather be broke and have a consistent vape, so i ordered a polished silver provari with 18650 extension, green led, noalox, carry caddy, and tatroe wide end cap.

while my kit is in the mail, i need to settle on a topper.
i have all intentions of getting into RBAs but right now i don't even own a soldering iron let alone know the first thing about electronics, so for the moment i just want some kind of tank that's reasonably consistent and easy for a noob to deal with.

i'm totally willing to sacrifice flavour and clouds for ease of use right now, so i just want something that's not too much of a stuff-around. for example, i had nothing but troubles with the both iclear 30's that came with the SVD. a lot of people say the protank is great but then a lot of people report a lot of gurgling and leaking.

i guess i'll also need some kind of beauty ring so it all sits flush and pretty?

thanks guys, i appreciate your help!:2cool:

btw - i do accept that there's no totally painless option and that's just the nature of the beast, i'm just looking for something easy for now til i'm more confident with tinkering and know my gear better. :)

i'm also willing to check out cartomizer tanks (which i haven't really read anything about yet), if the extra filling time means less messing about during the day that works fine for me!

Why would you need a soldering iron? You just wrap a coil, slap it in your rba, check ohms and for shorts, fire it and see how it is, if it works well wick it and if not then tinker with it. If your doing a micro coil after you fire it you squeeze it between some tweezers(but not while you fire cuz youll cause a short!)

Not saying its super easy, but you dont need a ton of tools.

IMO the iclear 30's hate to be filled too much - they definitely gurgle for a while if you fill them over the 3ml line. I've had both the protank mini's and protank 3 and can't complain with either. However, the protank 3 has 2 atomisers available, the ones with the "chimney" and those without. I've found that the short stubby ones without the chimney are less prone to leaking etc.

Hmmm, not a fan of clearomizers, but when I did use them I prefered the iClear 30 (original version). Never had issues with them.

My go-to juice attachment for my Provari's are IBTanked pyrex cartotanks. High quality cartotanks for a reasonable price. I realize you live far across the pond and the shipping costs may make these more expensive. However, cartotanks seem to be a very popular juice attachment for a Provari owners. I believe you get more flavor and consistancy with a cartotank than you do with any clearomizer. A little longer in setup time (every couple of weeks), but thereafter refilling the tank is a breeze if you own a cartotank tool.

Both Provape and IBTanked sell the beauty ring that sits between the tank and the Provari for that flush look.

When you are ready to get into rebuildable atomizers, I highly recommend a Kayfun-style tank. This has become my favorite tank.

I've been using, so far, the ProTanks and Davides. You don't need a beauty ring with either on top of the ProVari. I started rewicking them first with cotton. Then after successfully determining the amt I needed, I started on making new coils with 30 Kanthal wire. Never had a problem with leaking, and have been pretty satified with them. Been using them for about 8 mos.

Have also used the minis in both lines. For those you do need a 510 to Ego adapter; however, I also got a couple of Tatroe mini bases for their use. Also, I put a stardard size tank base (they have the same threading) on the mini and use the ProVari beauty ring. Looks pretty good with the grooves the ProVari has. Kind of decorative.

Hopes this helps you out! :)

That guide is pretty simple. And i use vapers toolbox as a guide for how many wraps i need to do.

That guide is for normal coils. For micro coils you wanna wrap around a drill bit or something similar and wrap the coils as tight as you can. Then throw it on the rba and check ohms and for shorts. Once you do that fire it up and check to make sure it glows from inside out evenly. If it doent fire it till it glows red hot for a few sec then let go of the firing button and squeeze and hold both ends with tweezers to get everything tight. Bam micro coil.

Greetings, congrats on your ProVari purchase, and welcome to the forum.

There are plenty of easy-to-follow tutorials for the Kayfun, and there are also KF clones available which vape just like the original, but cost much less. Here's one tutorial: Vaporev-Kayfun

If you're thinking about the Pro Tank 2, but are worried about reliability, one option is the Davide clearomizer. It's the same design as the PT2, but seems to have fewer QC issues (I've had a few and they vape great!). IIRC, you won't need a ring for a PT2/Davide.

this is all incredibly helpful guys!

baditude, i've been having trouble finding a rebuilding guide that starts at the absolute basics (how the coils and wicks work and what materials are best, and all the tools i will need etc). do you know of any guides for absolute beginners?

thanks so much!

Personally, I use the Protank II with an Aerotank base for the easiest to use. I haven't bought an Nautilus or the iClear so I cannot comment on one versus the other but the coil prices on the PTII is $5.79 for a 5 pack and without the rebuilding or whatever, I thoroughly enjoy this set up and don't have much issue with them. I have an Aspire ET Glassomizer but the coil prices are a lot IMO

I do have a Kayfun and a good dripper and have tried various other set ups but I don't take them out of the house because then I would need wick, wire, tools, etc in case something went wrong.
