I am a noob so please forgive any stupid questions

NOTE: I tried to post on ATV but I can't find it there (waited for 30 minutes)

I am seriously considering pre-ordering the Provari (next day or two) ProVari Variable Voltage, variable voltage electronic cigarette by Provape. I want a nice looking variable voltage mod and this device seems to fit the bill, nice size, great safety features, cosmetics, etc. I would like to ask this forum for some feedback on a few questions.

1. It's new, is this manufacturer known for proper testing and QA?
2. Is Variable voltage "all that, and a bag of chips"?
3. How long can I expect batteries to last at high voltage (rough guess). Should I bring extra batts to work with me?
4. What is the benefit of high voltage juice (with high Volt PV), and is High Voltage 5V or 6V? I guess I am not sure what high voltage juice is all about (noob question )
5. If I order in the next day or two, what are the chances it will be here by Xmas?

Thank you!

I looked at,since I want a VV for Christmas too. I think it looks kinda cool, but IMO all of the digital display and what-not is just something more that could break. I think I'm going to look for something more mechanical

Well if you took that argument to its logical conclusion. You may as well say dont buy a car that has aircon or leccy windows just in case it breaks

I use two 5 volt electronic mods (non-mechanical) and both are great with few if any issues. I have found that 6 volts is actually too hot and that 5 volts is ideal. But to a degree, that depends on the atty you use and the atty's resistence. I use 801/BE112 attys and 801 cartomizers. These have 3.0 resistence that too me, gives great throat hit at 5 volts without that burning sensation that I get with a 510 atty due to it's lower resistence (2.4 resistence I believe). If you find the right mod paired with the right atty, I'm not sure of the advantages to a variable volt PV other than if you want to use several different atty's for some reason. I would like to hear from those experienced with variable volt PV's on this point. However, I don't mean to hyjack your thread. I must say the ProVariable is a very nice looking PV.

Thanks for the link MotorPsychl . Thanks to every one that responded. After reading the entire thread and several others I came to 2 important conclusions that lead to my decision.

1) Provape understands the engineering and quality assurance process. They layed out the time line for bringing the Provari to market and stuck to it. They did not budge from thier planned release dates even with people offering to purchase the immedialty "as is". I am sure there were changes and improvements along way, but no show stoppers.

2) From reading all the reviews this company actualy wants to "up the bar" so to speak, in quality and technology. All the reviews are positive and indicate they stand behind thier product.

My assesment: Compared to the other mods, the Provair is a very classy looking device with a ton of addtional features (both safety and nerdkewl) for just a few exrta dollars.

Thanks

Hey WV, long time no see...........

I was pretty much "locked" in at 5v. I really thought that it was my sweet spot. I have 4-5 5v only mods and I was very happy. However, one of my fellow ECF staffers was raving about his experience with a VV mods he had purchased. After listening to him for a couple of months, I finally broke down and purchased one. I was like night and day. I have found that some juices do much better at higher voltages and other do better at lower. I even vape some flavors a different voltages depending on my mood and what kind of hit that I want.

I was surprised at the difference .2 or .3v can make in how a juice tastes. I was never a 6v fan as most of the juices I tried at 6v always tastes burnt. However, I regularly vape some of my juices at 5.2-5.3v and they do very well. Others do very well in the 4.3 range. For that reason, I will pretty much only be buying vv units from here on out.

Hey, Elendil, nice to hear from you!

Thanks for the advice. I remember that you were big on the GG if I remember correctly. What is your atty of choice and can you recommend a particular VV?

I do have a ProVari on preorder. Right now I use a Buzz which is very good and I have a Saber Touch VV enroute soon. I only use the AFS from GG and I use cartos in them. The cartos seem to work the best for me on VV.

I just started using cartos. Since I only use 801/BE112 attys, I wasn't too sure about the cartos since most of them are either 510's or 808's. Then I found MV's 801 cartos made by Bauway. I really like these cartos and like that they use the same tip I am use to. I also like that they are easy to refill. I will have to look more closely at the VV's. I'm actually starting to make some 5 volt mods, so I'll wait until I am done with that.

Sooooooooooooooooo. Now that I pre-ordered the Porvari time has almost come to a stand still. I checked the time at 9:00 PM waited for hours, did everything around the house I could think of, read some magazines, watched TV, painted the living room, did next years taxes, taught myself Latin, and it's only 10:00PM :censored:. Gaaahhh!!!:oops:

I saw on their order form that you can purchase an additional 1 year warranty. At least they're willing to back up their products! I've been searching around for the perfect VV device for a while now. There's really only a handful of choices out there. I ran across the ProVari the other day and I think that's the one I'm going to order. The truth is...if I had the $$$, I would buy every cool mod out there...The Precise,SB, GLV 2, Buzz, Joker, GG, Saber Touch, Prodigy V3, Precious, Little Sister, etc. Decisions, decisions.......;-)
