ProVari - love/hate relationship

Yep, I love my ProV, and I hate it too.
I have one of the originals, and also own a mini.
Both produce well, both have all the bells and whistles I need.
I vary batteries, using the extension cap now and then. I use both with different tanks at different times.
Both the old one and my very new mi have the same damn problem causing me to hate them too.
The contact post moves down, and of course no tank, no cart will then work.
For quite a long time I would use various tools to pull it back up; bent pins, tiny tweezers, wire loops etc.
This was always a pain in the .... and impossible if driving.
So I rarely use either when out of the house.

Starting this his week I popped the top to get at it. Yes, of course any warranty is void.
But this is what works best, and it started me thinking.

There is really not much to one of these. A metal tube, a few wires and contacts, a tiny circuit board and the display.
Sure costs a lot for so little hardware. No wonder China is chunking out clone after clone of everything they get their hands on.
Sure I understand, research, design, prototypes, all cost and manufactures deserve to make a profit.
Just think consumers deserve high quality when paying a high price.

I usually have a Hippo v2 (adjustable pin / AFC) on mine when needed.. Most of my attys have adjustable pins though..

The ProVari is a great device that, for my needs, is no longer relevant. The P2.5 was the pinnacle of my vape gear and gave the most satisfying vape of all of my devices.

Time moves forward and by no means is it necessary to vape at a higher wattage than the P3 provides that just happens to be the way the market is going. For me, I got into mechanicals exclusively and sold all but one of my ProVaris that I keep for nostalgic purposes.

If I ever did get another regulated device it would, unfortunately, not be a ProVari. It's no longer cost effective, IMO.

Totally agree. With so many devices around now, at much better prices I think the market will force prices down.

I love my ProVaris for what they are and what they are is the point. I still believe the 2.5 is the most durable, reliable VV mod on the market for vapers like my friends; those who are not hobbyists or forum members. They are people who just want a device that works every time they pick it up.

A ProVari is not for everyone, there are features it doesn't have that are desired by many vapers. I have several other mods that were chosen for their specific features. It's wonderful there are other devices on the market people are interested in at prices they can afford. I don't want a DNA 40, it doesn't fit my vaping style, but I'm glad it's available.

While I have nothing against clones, as they allow people to have devices otherwise out of their price range, I myself, I buy authentic mods. I want to support companies creating innovative products. When you think about it, if some people didn't buy products from the originators their companies would go out of business and China wouldn't have anything to copy. It's true some Chinese companies are starting to design products of their own, but even those still have iffy quality control. Back to cost, will the prices of the ProVari go down? I doubt it. ProVape targets a specific market and we buy their devices; plus, my other mods cost as much, if not more, than a ProVari.

I'm sorry you feel hatred towards a device you have to admit served you well, until a problem developed. As far as the contact post moving, it shouldn't do that. Even if it's out of warranty, ProVape repair prices are quite reasonable and if it turns out to be a flaw in the device, I'm sure they will work with you.

I can see where this thread is heading. I've never heard of the firing pin not working and if by any chance it did move down I know Provape will fix it for me whether it's in warranty or not. It's a lot more then a tube, wires, and a circuit board. There is no chance of seeing the Provari go down in price, anyone who owns one knows it's a high quality mod and most own more then one. You seem hesitant to take your Provari with you when going out. I wouldn't go out unless one of my Provari's was with me.

My guess would be user error...
