Hi! I've been vaping for a month now and love it. I'm trying to kick the tobacco habit (I smoke about 3 cigs a day. You read that, correctly - not 3 packs, 3 cigarettes - but I want to quit tobacco completely.) My current setup is as follows: EVOD 1000mah, Kanger mini Protank-2. I have some quality juices from my local vape store and online sellers (VapreRite, Adam Bomb, Alice in Vapeland). But I want, I need something more. After doing my research, I've decided to skip the mid-range stuff and go straight to the ProVari Mini. I understand VV, ohms, and the like. My question for all of you out there: what delivery method do you like? I know it's extremely subjective, so here's what I'm looking for:

  • Outstanding taste - I want to taste my gourmet juices. I know I can get more out of them than I am now.
  • Increased vapor production - not insanely huge clouds, but definitely need more.
  • Ease - Don't get me wrong, I'm not afraid to learn - I love it. But I am not really a "tinkerer." Building coils doesn't really appeal to me so an RBA is not what I'm looking for.
  • Glass - I like to be able to vary my juice and not worry about it eating through a tank.

There are so many options out there. Do I stick with what I know and go with a Pro Tank2? Or should I go with a cartomizer (which does intimidate me, but I am willing to try if it best fits my needs.) And if so, which cartomizer? Help!

Sorry, no help here...just the same issues with taste and ease of use! I will be following this thread in hopes of some helpful advice, so thanks for posting this.
My equipment: a couple smaller eGo batteries I won in a raffle at my B&M, a vision Spinner 1300 I bought at my B&M, a Kamry K100 mech and an MVP 2.
Toppers are a variety as well: the low quality plastic tanks that came with the eGo kit I won, pro tank 2 and pro tank mini, unitank mini, a vivi nova I bought on recommendation from a friend and the carto that came with my Kamry.
I am not looking to get into RBA's or dripping, I just want something that works and is easy to use.
Sorry for piggy backing on your thread, but I have a birthday coming up and hubby is willing to buy me a ProVari if I want so I am pretty much looking for the same kind of advice as you.

Totally not a problem! In fact, I'm glad it's not just me with these questions!

Been there done that, can understand you're thinking. My immediate recommendation is to get an Aspire Nautilus BDC. Glass tank, changeable coil heads, decent vape and worry free. The Nautilus will provide about the best vape available short of going re-buildable atomizers. Lots of flavorful vape, decent volume of vapor.

When I started vaping and looking for a regulated mod, wanting that something more, did all the reviews, searches and comparisons and decided on a Provari. Was running a PT 2 getting a good decent vape, but wanted more. So broke down and bought the Russian rba. So glad I did. Not only do rba's provide some of the best Vape satisfaction, increased vape production, but once competent at building, it's the easiest vape to maintain.

The whole vape journey is a progressive learning curve. Once started there is no telling where one will go. I'm so into the vape experience, build coils and mix my own juice. Never thought I wanted to fiddle with wire and get a chemistry set, but I did.

What if I told you rebuilding could be easy, and fun? And less gas to use to travel to a vape store? What if I told you k a y f u n

"Ease - Don't get me wrong, I'm not afraid to learn - I love it. But I am not really a "tinkerer." Building coils doesn't really appeal to me so an RBA is not what I'm looking for."

Above is Quoted from the OP, (sorry Lyncentric for hijacking your thread....hope you don't mind since it appears we are in agreement in this).

Not really looking to rebuild at this time. I am afraid if vaping starts to feel like work I'll go back to smoking full time. Like the OP I still smoke occasionally and really don't want to go back to it full time. Maybe when I feel more comfortable with tinkering I will change my mind and from all I've read here Kayfun seems like the way to go.

I am also in the same boat of wanting ease of use and great flavors. I have a Kraken clone on the way. It seems like it is very easy to build and holds a good amount of juice. From all the video's I have watched it seems like the rta's are pretty reliable once built and depending on how you build them very easy to clean and re wick when changing flavors.

Also have heard a lot of people liking the new Kanger aerotanks. Just pull out the bottom and change the coil if the coil gets gunked up.

I'll :thumb: IBTanked pyrex cartotanks. IBTANKED PYREX CARTOTANKS - REVIEW.

I'll go against my buddy Zapped on the Phiniac vs IBTanked, though. (Sorry buddy) I have over a dozen IBTanked in my collection and one Phiniac. I've managed to crack the Phiniac, but none of my IBTanked's have cracked. For the price difference (and it's a big one), I'd choose an IBTanked. IBTanked with stainless steel or anodized aluminum caps for $22 vs Phiniac with plastic caps for $44. You do the math. Even if you do crack an IBTanked glass tube, they are only $3 - $6 to replace.

I've tried nearly every clearomizer on the market. None can match the flavor and consistancy of a cartotank. I don't own a Aspire Nautilus BDC, but I have vaped on one of my buddy's for a good while at my local vape shop - probably the best clearo I've tried. Still not a match for a cartotank.

Clearomizers depend upon tiny silica strings to wick e-liquid to their coils. They can have trouble keeping up with a moderate to heavy vaper. This is due to the small surface area of a string. This leads to flavor loss, dry or burnt hits, and inconsistancy.

A cartomizer on the other hand is a steel tube packed with polyfiber as a wick totally surrounding the heating coil. This is a much larger surface area for a wick. Better flavor and more consistancy. The downside of using a cartomizer solo is you're never quite sure when to add more e-liquid because you can't see the juice level.

Adding a carto with holes into a tank eliminates this problem. With each vape, the suction pulls e-liquid from the tank into the cartomizer to keep the wicking material wet.

I've done the Rebuildable Atomizer tanks. Too time-consuming and fussy for me. I can do a complete cartotank setup in 7 minutes. It took me half an hour to setup a new RBA tank, and then they might be fussy and require a new coil or wick.

I look at the Kanger approach as the evolution of the carto. Coil life for those that dry burn clean is weeks longer. Flavor is equal. Kanger style atomizers are cheaper to own in the long term. There was a time in my learning curve I would said a drip tank gave the best Vape, but my Kanger style tanks now equal my IGO W. I do have to tweak the coils back into alignment most of the time straight from the box. But Kanger is starting a QC marketing promotion this month. Maybe they will make better aligned wicks and coils. The new aero base works as advertised. I have two Divide tanks outfitted with them. If I hadn't been able to get a hand on the Kanger style, I would have stepped back and bought a carto w/tank.8p

No worries mate. :)

It should be noted though that the Phiniac tank you cracked was using Hoosier caps though if Im not mistaken. The difference in fit might have caused it to crack prematurely, who knows? I know out of the 4 I own only one has cracked and thats my fault for dropping it repeatedly from my desk.

I like the thicker Delrin end caps on my Phiniac. Im sure some people prefer j-tanks too. Bottom line is whatever works best for YOU and your particular vaping style.

Please dont hesitate to give carto tanks a try. I dont think they get nearly the recognition they deserve as many start with cartos, get sick of the dry hits, then move to a clearo-tank then skip carto tanks entirely and jump right into rebuildables.

If i had to rate the different juice delivery systems in terms of flavor it would be:

Cartridges (Blu, etc)
Clearomizers
Carto Tanks
RBA's and then Drippers

You hit the nail on the head, Kbennett65! Right now I don't have the patience it takes to start building, and if I get too frustrated trying to learn, I'll give up and go straight for the analogs. I'm not ruling it out as a future option, just not at the moment. But Kayfun, yeah, I'm getting your message loud and clear!
