I bought my Pila in oct. 2011, I'm sure it's one of the newest versions. And the batteries never came off the charger above 4.18v when tested with a DMM.
recharging @ 3.7v -ish- I'm not .... or crazy about it, but, it will prolong the life of your battery. At least according to table 2 on this link.

running down to the cutoff is fine if you don't mind your batteries "aging" faster. I've hit the cutoff numerous times in the provari... if I can avoid it by charging or swapping a battery, I do. If I'm out and about and can't charge or swap, I'll gladly hit the cutoff vs. not vape. Also, it's easy to avoid hitting the cutoff due to the Check Battery feature..
main point- by not charging to 4.20+V, and by not dishcharging too low(I consider 3.6v low), your batteries will have a longer life(charge cycles).
then again, @ $6/$7 per battery it's not a big loss if you only get 300 cycles and use it how you want vs. 1000 cycles being a little conservative/attentive.

Totally agree with you on using just a cartomizer without a tank Subvy', , i never noticed it before cause i'd never used a tank before. but now that i'm using tanks, when i go back to just a carty, they taste old really old, even though its a new carty, theyre just gross now..
Thanks spence, yeah someone else mentioned that you need a harder press, so that was my fault - it doesn't cutoff, I just needed to press the button a little harder
Also... I really really want to get the GG Odysseus iAtty 2 or the Z-Atty Pro but both of them are unavailable
Really liking the idea of a tank atty... I think I can kind of taste the filler from my cartos.. nto a burning taste just.. I can taste it more than I used to I think. Would love a nice clean atty vape, but also don't want to drip.. those rebuildable tank atties look wonderful... I want one!
Got my mini today! Pretty excited, it's been great in the couple hours I've been playing around with it. Unfortunately don't have much to add that hasn't been said about it already, just wanted to see about a couple little things I noticed.
The mini itself looks great, and the stock endcap screws on like butter, verrry smooth. But the endcap looks like it's been through the ringer a bit, here's a couple pictures showing the dings and blemishes.
Obviously nothing that affects the functionality of the device, I was just a little surprised being that this is a $160 PV.
Also, the extension cap for the 18490 doesn't screw on very smoothly. It goes on great at first, then about halfway through, it "bites" and resists a little bit, requiring a little extra torque to screw it the rest of the way on. I realize I'm nitpicking a bit here, and probably wouldn't even mention it if it was a cheaper device, but thought I'd just give my honest impressions. Again, everything seems to function perfectly and I'm very much enjoying my first ProVari!

Thats kinda a bummer, probably not noticeable when its upright, but the screwing in part that would suck, do you think it will get better as you keep screwing it in?

Mine was a little hard to screw in at first. I've had it since Saturday and it seems to be fine now.
Same here.. there was some machining grease or something in the threads... wiped down the extension and it's much better.
Also, the 18350 got me through about 10 hours at work, when I got home it was at 3.7v so I just put it on the charger.. the light wasn't blinking yet, though.
I'm using the 18490 and extension cap for the first time right now. I know I bought the mini for a mini, but I actually like the added length with the extension cap! Usually I would hold it with my pinky on the bottom cap, but now it fits in my whole hand very nicely. Not that I don't like the mini size.. I will still probably use the 18350 for a work day then maybe switch to the extension at night. I'm sure this 18490 will get me through until I go to bed. I'll try a fresh 18490 tomorrow morning and see how long it will get me through work and at night. I do most of my vaping at night so it may not get me all the way until I go to bed, but either way, I'm very satisfied with the 18350 battery life!

Like the rest, that grease was the same for my extensions as well and with a bit of cleanup worked great.
Knivesout, your pics made me look. While my extension caps are flawless, the standard end caps all have the same dings... some more so than the others. Never bothered to look at the bottom of my pv, too busy putting the top in my face.
Guess they have all those stock endcaps in a bucket somewhere and they end up dinging up a bit. *shrug*

Thanks guys, I'll wipe down the threads and see how it goes. I'm sure with some use things will smooth out. Did anyone else notice their endcaps looking dinged up like mine?
Been loving the mini so far, haven't had it long enough to comment on battery yet, but since I'm not a real heavy vapor I think the 18350 should be fine most of the time. Got the 18490 extension so if I need that extra runtime I'll have it.

My end caps never had dings or any resistance in threading . Always have threaded on so buttery smooth they make me giggle. lol. I didnt get my mini yet though, One of the things i was worried about on the mini would be that its too small since i usually have my pinky fitting perfectly at the end cap .Im just hoping the minis not too short for the pinky support.

I accidentally stumbled upon you, when doing a google search regarding 'food coloring / food dye, i wanted to know if it was okay to put a drop or two in a filled ejuice tank, so i could change the color, i cant remember what that thread said, but i thought i saw you on it. would that be okay?

Its not really recommended . Usually food coloring is used only very slighly by the flavor manufacturer like Loranns. Since its just to change the color of the juice id say its not worth using. You could always get colored tint for the tank to give the juice color.
No dings at all here with either the stock or the extension. However, when putting the extension on I did notice a bit of resistance the last couple turns.
