I'm getting wattage too high errors when operating over 14.6 watts (well within the 20 watt max.). I'm using a kayfun built at 1.3 ohms with a 35 amp 18650 battery. I do not use the "boost" function. Any ideas what may be the source of this problem?

Checked the connections on the tank?
Tried another battery?
Those 35A are pulse. Probably a 20A continuous battery (LG HG2?), but that's still plenty.

Your P3 feels that a wattage level above 14.6 is not recommended for the setup you are using. If anything a P3 is all about safety. So my question is what is the vape like for you a just below the 14.6 level? Just because you have 20 watts available, doesn't mean you need to use them all to produce a very satisfying vape. From the Users manual for a P3:
Reduce Volts / Watts or Replace Atomizer
This error can occur if the voltage or wattage is set too high and P3 cannot safely power the atomizer with your current settings. This can also happen if you
have the voltage or wattage set too high along with the boost mode set too high. Try lowering your settings. Most of the time, if you have these power
settings too high, you will be burning the juice and it won’t taste very good or you risk burning out your atomizer.
I too have a P3 and exclusively use Kayfun (authentic only) on it. Many of my builds are 1.3 - 1.5 ohm. For a great vape, I have not yet needed to vape higher than 10 watts.

I'd like a somewhat warmer vape, and I believe it to be within the capabilities of the Kayfun.
It's within the capabilities of the Kayfun and the P3, just not the battery you are using.
My guess is the internal resistance of the rewrap you are using is too high.
The only time I get that error is when I drop it hard and my lemo's connection fails...I just unscrew it and tighten it again and it fixes it.
Each time the error occurrs, I unscrew the atty and rescrew it back on just in case. It never has worked.
send it back to Provari and get it fixed.... thats why Provaris cost so much... the warranty is supposed to be awesome.
It may not be an issue with the P3. It could certainly be an issue with the battery or atty. I wouldn't send it to Provape unless I was convinced the P3 was at fault.
See how it works with the 25r you have on the way. How old are the batteries you have? Were they used in mechs? If it don't work with the new batteries then I would start a ticked with ProVape
