I just purchased a received a Provari about a week ago. I ordered the unit with with the extended cap and 2 AW 18650 3.7v 1600mah batteries. I noticed that after about 1-2 hrs of light to moderate vaping that the button starts flashing slowly (meaning battery low). After about another hour...it flashes fast and shuts down so I have to charge the battery. I use 2ohm Boge cartomizers with the voltage set to around 4.2v. Is it just me, or are you guys getting around the same life out of your batteries too? I was hoping that 1600mah would last me more than 3hrs. I love the Provari...but if this is the battery life I have to look forward to, I may need to look into a different unit.

The AW IMR batteries will not last as long as other batteries with the same capacity. It's just how they work, don't ask me to explain it because I can't remember lol. But with that said, it does seem like you're getting considerably less life out of these than I am. I consider myself a moderate vapor (3-4ml a day) and I can go for about a full day on one AW IMR 18650. I turn the Low battery indicator off and vape until I get dead battery flash. I'm not sure what would cause the discrepancy between our two results other than you vape considerably more than I do.

@Suziesmom: I was looking at the Ultrafires too, Madvapes carries them for $9.99...I should be getting a $40 credit from them in the next day or 2, I'll pick a couple up.

@Digs: I vape a moderate 3ml's a day...not too bad. It's crazy because I get a full day of heavy vaping from my 900mah ego-t batteries with the same cartos...oh well, I guess I need to pick up some bigger batteries.

I think you may be using too high a voltage with too low a resistance atty. Take a look as ProVape's website, they have tables on there showing the maximum voltage you should use with the device for difference resistance atties. Note that if you push the batteries to the edge of that table, you will get much shorter battery life.

Plus take a look at your charger, too!

I've had my ProVari for several weeks now, also have the extended cap and larger battery. If anything I get great battery life. I usually have it at 4.5v and have gone sometimes almost 2 days with the same battery. Usually it was when I forgot to switch to a charged one before going to work but I never had such issues. I use it all day at home and work so lack of use really wouldn't explain the anomaly.

I have exactly 9 AW IMR 18650's and a Pila charger. I am currently rotating through 6 of 'em on 2 Provari's.
I figure i use almost one full charge per Vari a day; at least 6ml of juice, so I am charging 2 every day.

I always take a spare batt if i have to go anywhere in the car for more than a couple hours just in case.

It's all about the vape (and a reasonable amount of batt life).

Let Provape know if you haven't, and they'll fix you up.

If you are a light vaper, the 18490 is your batt for the Vari... if not, forget those and get the extended cap and a bunch of 18650 AW IMR's.!!!
Seems low to me as well. I am a pretty light vaper (2-3 mls per day). I'm using a 2.3 ohm atty at 4.6v and get a solid 6 hours on the shorter 18490 batts. Hope you get it figured out!

I currently have some AW IMR 18650s and a pila charger, currently awaiting my provari. My question is (not trying to jack thread), why aren't people using the AW 18650 2900-P? Drawing Amps don't seem to matter as much as for 14500 sizes but for 18650 --> what does IMR 18650s bring to the table other than less use. Is it the size (The 2900 is ~3mm longer)?

I contacted Provape and they told me to clean out the extended cap because some black powder coat overspray may have gotten into it and it may be interfering with the contact. I checked it and there is some light overspray in the extended cap, havent gotten around to cleaning it yet...not even sure if it will make a difference. From day one, on a fully charged battery, I can use the unit for a couple of hours...then the low batt flash triggers...from there, I get around an hour. I bypass this by unscrewing the ext cap and screwing it back on again...then I get another hour. I can repeat this a couple of times when needed. Another thing I noticed recently is sometimes when Im vaping, it just cuts off, when I look at the display, it is in the PU menu and I notice that the voltage is up by .1v...maybe I just have a bum unit...luckily I purchased the 2yr warranty. It sucks, because while its working...It's the best unit I have ever owned, but with all electrical devices...there will be some bad units. Im going to use this thing until It just flat out stops working...I have 4 Ultrafire 18650 3000mahs on the way...I'll let you guys know if it increases the battery life at all, im crossing my fingers!

If you read the Provari thread, and also on the site, you will see they recommend the IMR because it gives a fuller range of power to more different resistances... i don't understand the technlology.
The Li-ions, you refer to will give you more time, but i guess it will be somewhat limited in the choice of atty resistances you may choose. They are longer, so i'd recommend one that is not too long... even so, some will fit if you don't tighten the cap all the way.

the flickering light is supposed to go on when the batt reaches 3.5v... it will continue to work, but if you don't recharge it then, it lessens the overall life of that batt...

On my Provari I always get at least 10 hrs of heavy vapeing with a 3.2 map at 4.5, a couple of times my battery light started flashing after 2 hours I noticed my extended cap was loose just a little bit I removed the battery put it back put the cap back on and everything was fine. It happened again and sure enough my cap had loosened up just a bit.
