At 250 for a kit, are we seeing the end of provari? That name has been on this forum day and night for years, but really, custom box mods and high end mechanicals coming in at half the price, OR LESS? Do I hear a death rattle from the provari giant? Any long term member here has seen "get a provari" a thousand times, but those posts are fading into the locked section at a fast rate. Is anyone even considering one anymore? I'm not, and I used to want one more than any vape on the market.

I seriously considered getting one when I started vaping and found this forum. Decided I'd buy a decent starter kit and pocket the rest. the amount of gear I can buy for the same price is just too much of a difference for me. they have done a lot of things I've liked, but not enough to get me to Pay ~5x the price of a Different mod.

I am Looking at purchasing the 2015 classic, just because of durability and reliability. I've spent that much on 3 or 4 mods in less time than the provari would last...I like to think that it would be practical in the long run for me. I'm not interested in sub-ohm, and I like to vape less than 15 watts anyway. Plus, I like the look :toast:

They do look pretty snazzy. So far, I've lucked out on mod purchases and haven't gotten any lemons. It looks like the 2015 classic has the p3 thread, which seems incredibly solid... if you buy a tank with a p3 connection. Might be worth it actually.

My 20w istick has been going strong since november, and my dad is still using my spinner II, I broke a spinner I, and my vv v3 clone was a $70 lemon because I was a noob. I've had pretty good luck I think, and I just want to keep that going. The p3 threads look great like you say, and I like the nautilus, so I hope i'd be set for a while if I get that and the classic.

If you decide to drop some serious money and also get into rebuilding, they have a kayfun v4 with a p3 as well. That price is pretty steep though. Did you buy that clone at A brick and mortar?

You didn't break a spinner, it broke itself lol.

I just don't see the value in a provari. I know they have great customer service, and a great warranty. But there are lifetime warranty mods, or mods that simply cannot fail, for 1/2 the price of one provari. And how long have you gone without going for a new mod? In the last 2 years, I've had at least 15 different mods.

lol i just found it funny on their site, they list theirr 2015 classic as having 'subohm-capability',

"
  • Sub-ohm capability (Down to .9 ohms)"

a range of 0.1ohms is being sub-ohm capable? :nah:

160$+ for a 15watt mod is pretty ridiculous in todays market, i dont see them selling anymore unless its to people who buy into the provari 'reliability' hype, they are just falling way behind on their game. If you wanna go on reliability, I have stickstyle unbranded batteries and egos that still work that are 3 years old, but I would never buy another stickstyle or ego battery nowadays.

RIGHT? Even cheaper boxes are hitting .2 ohm, and cost 1/5 a provari!

Honestly, anything below 1.0 is considered "sub ohming". I have literally seen on this forum, people saying, "I want to start cloud chasing, and I built a .9 ohm coil to start sub-ohming" AND VETERAN VAPERS GET MAD AT THEM!!!!

Seriously, someone tell me the difference in a 1.0 and a .9 ohm coil on production and vapor..... I'm just not giving into that.

The difference between 1.0 and .9 is just as it looks... .1 ohm. The lowest you can go on a new provari is .9, and is at best a gimmick to market to the newest sub ohm vapers out there. Going down .1 ohm to call yourself sub ohm at 5x the price is a joke. A BAD joke.

i honestly dont get the whoel durability and reliability hype provari gets, I been vaping on 3 years now, and minus 1 ego style battery that I vaped the battery dead, everything I have bought works still. Vision spinners, other egos, unbranded stick styles, an old ... silver bullet, volts, solara dna30, rdna vaporshark. they all still work, and I can attest I have beaten the living crap out of and dropped and tossed around my vaporshark and silver bullets.

I just see way more one can get out of the cost of 1 of those 2015 provari, and have a more enjoyable experience and good reliability.

I did, my mistake. I joined ecf afterwards. I don't think i'd go for the kayfun, however. The 2015 is only 160 or something, plus what i'd need in batteries and a charger and charging bag. I don't feel like the reliability is "hype," but that's just my opinion based on what I've read and watched on youtube. I think it would work well and for a long time for my vaping needs :)

Oh look, another thread about the 'cost' of vaping.

A thread about the cost of a provari. A low wattage, seriously overpriced mod. I don't mind spending money on what I want, but damn, 250 for a .9 mod? You have to be kidding. Friday, I buy a dual 26650 parallel box mod capable of .08 ohm with a lifetime warranty, for $115. Sure, not VV/VW but I'll buy a Sigelei for $89 and I'll bet dollars to donuts I'll blow clouds around a Provari.

ProVape doesn't market to sub ohm cloud chasers; they don't fit the proper demographic...

direct quote from their performance tab of the mod

"
  • Sub-ohm capability (Down to .9 ohms)"

im 99.99% sure that's them trying to advertise sub-ohming

its not about the clouds, people are saying they would pay the inflated price just for durability and reliability. The fact that more powerful mods exist that are reliable as well for the fraction of the price is what I think is in question here. You may not need the extra power, but why pay the price for it when you aren't getting it. I duno as I just looked over the site quickly, but provari doesnt even list what grade stainless steel they use. I just can't see reliability and durability as justification for an overpriced mod with low power and non premium materials. Anything with electrical internals is not bulletproof fyi. The only thing that really comes close to being bulletproof and justifies the cost are the Reos. Provari? dont think so.
